I am playing the TITLEUPDATE24 seed with the one house village in survival (my first real attempt). My goal is to create a large village where there will be more villagers. I have a couple questions regarding this:
1) How many structures/doors would I need for villagers to start breeding? There currently is the 2 door butchers house I believe (the back door with fence) and the small structure I am making that is primarily 3x3 an 2 floors high.
2) Would it make a difference if I put 4 doors on the bottom floor, one on each wall on first floor (or even second floor for 8 total doors) If so I may make a few of these until I have alot of villagers then just make more small homes.
3) Do tile drops disappear after a while? I am cutting down a spruce forest and getting tons of saplings. I dont need 10 per tree as there really wont be enough space. If I leave them, do they disappear?
First off glad to see you using my seed and to answer your question you can use around 20 doors to get 20 villagers to spawn and just look up a small villager farm video and youll be able to get a little villager area easily. Lastly the drops do disappear after 5 minutes.
As for the doors, I could put 8 on the single structure: 4 on each wall and then 4 on top floors and that would count as 8 doors for villagers right? I wouldnt want to over populate just yet as I only have the one structure. I would be trying to build additional ones according to the villager occupation.
That seed is awesome for someone like me to start out on. Its main isle is sizable, but not too big to get overwhelmed with structure and exploration. Can make a very nice village soon, will be tearing down their house hen I make a slaughterhouse of sorts lol
Since you only have the one village on the map - You may want to get your village population up to 10, otherwise they can get totally wiped out by zombies easily. Once you're up to 10 villagers, an iron golem should spawn to help protect them. Once you have an iron golem around though, just be careful about hitting or killing villagers yourself. If you do, the iron golem will attack you. Some people convert villages into iron golem farms - which gives you an unlimited source of iron in addition to somewhat protecting the villagers from zombies. DocM77's design is probably the most popular (you'll want a design that's from before Minecraft PC 1.8).
I would like to, but no clue how many doors I need to have them spawn. Right now I built 3 houses with 12 doors total (14 with theirs) hen they had twins. Now of course when on survival, I would have to be more frugal with supplies.

Good and good.

You need 3 valid doors for each villager. There is a good tutorial on village mechanics here:

Also, you should be aware that the Xbox does have an over world villager cap limit of 50.
