Hey guys I recently started a new minecraft world and it is mostly ocean biomes so we don't have a taiga biome and I desperately need spruce wood for my builds I had enabled bonus chest and have emptied it twice hoping to eventually get spruce saplings and haven't gotten any so far..... but now my bonus chest isn't reseting I checked the wiki and it says that they reset every 2~3 in game days so I've waited and waited and waited and tried re-logging and still nothing can someone help me? I desperately need spruce saplings. thanks.

Have you done much building and such?

I don't know much about Minecraft on the X-box and I have never heard of bonus chests refilling (I don't tend to use them) but the wiki http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Bonus_chest#Bonus_chest says that you should get different contents if you recreate the world with the same seed. (only on consoles)

And of course a new world with a new seed would give you new contents (even on the PC)

Personaly I would keep exploring, but of course on the PC I know that there must be some somewhere, but if you haven't explored the whole world that's what I would suggest.

But how about using Creative mode to put a few saplings in your chest yourself?

A couple of updates back, they appear to have changed how the bonus chests work. Now, if you break the chest, it will respawn when you re-enter the game, but the contents will always be the same. That is, it's no longer a viable source to get items missing in certain worlds.

Before you say it, I agree - this really sucks... especially for things like Survival Island worlds. Basically, if your world doesn't have it and the first bonus chest doesn't have it, you'll never get it.

Hmm interesting i have explored the whe world, and I don't really like the idea of switching to creative but if there's no other way I might have to. :-(

A couple of updates back, I stopped getting the bonus chest when I loaded the world. I was in the habit of emptying the stuff into another chest and let it accumulate until I needed it. Then one time, there were no more chests. Ever. The bonus chest option does not appear in the list, either (don't know if it should...).

As UpUp said, it's a shame that some worlds could be permanently cut off from some cool future attractions, especially when some of us put so many hours in one survival world. I wonder if this is something that could be fixed in a future update.
