I have the newest Title Update 4J Studios released yesterday, TU25. It added only a few things, such as changing gamemode/difficulty in game, weather changing, fence and door variations, a new world selection interface, and other good stuff.
But, I may ask, why did Classic Crafting get considered?
Classic Crafting in my opinion would only make crafting harder (Thank goodness it can be toggled), since most of the time the cursor wouldn't go as fast as a mouse cursor, and in the changelog on mojang.com where this feature is mentioned...
"Classic crafting! Now console players get to craft items just like their PC buddies on Java Minecraft. Some players find this style of creation more satisfying. Check it out."
So, I wonder, why is this feature in TU25? I mean, I will never use it (And I mean NEVER), but how can "Some players find this style of creation more satisfying?" Post your opinions.

Hi. You're looking at the signature of a user that has pretty much quit Minecraft, but I might still be lurking. You can take a look if you want.

I very much enjoy using this option! I mean, I munch off other people for Xbox use, like borrowing my brother's, but I bought the actual game. I am a very much PC user, only playing Xbox once and a while. But with this Classic Crafting, I feel right at home with everything else. It's an option that nobody needs to use, but I find much more familiar when I open up the menu. I'm quite more familiar with this crafting style that's been implemented (finally!) into the console edition, so I know I'll be using this, and have been. Even though I only play it like twice a month, it's nice for one more familiar thing to be on there, when I do. I do see where you're coming from, because you guys have really ever had that. I played the 1.6.6 and 1.7.3 (TU1-TU4) versions in 2012 at my friend's house, and a lot of the other title updates, but the console crafting never really stuck. It's nice and convenient for people who want to do things fast and snappy, and don't want to have to memorize crafting recipes, though!
What might be pointless to you or me may not for a PC gamer. I will most likely never use classic crafting, but still an option for those who may prefer it.
Actually, it makes weapon and armor repairs possible which was not possible before, for example you can take 2 normal damaged bows and combine them to get a slightly repaired bow, and this includes most weapons and amour as well.

You could do that already...

This has been available. Guess you were missing out on that one...
I guess this comes down to more options.. and honestly I really like it.
For some people it's just not interesting or feasible. That's ok, but it's not pointless it me at all. In some ways classic crafting is actually faster given you know the recipes and you turn the interface sensitivity up a little bit. Also, I've noticed with certain controllers its harder than others. I have a cheap back up controller that makes it a real pain, but on my main controller it's a breeze.
I really enjoy it. I can craft stacks of items quickly and without the wait.
Well, it's an option for those who enjoy it. I've played for a while now, PC and comsole. I remember most of the recipes and for those I don't, there's a few I always seem to forget, there's an app on my phone or the wiki. Like I said, its not for everyone, but it's a cool option.
As mentioned previously the art assets for Classic crafting already existed (Few additions were needed).
We are able to track how many users have chosen to switch over to Classic Crafting.
Also as mentioned by other users it is entirely optional, I've personally switched over to it.

It's a great option, but could use a couple refinements. I know this is likely not the place for it...but some sort of way to evenly distribute items in the crafting grid would be a great improvement. Similar to how on PC items can be mouse dragged and placed evenly; it would make crafting items requiring the entire grid faster.( gold blocks)
Newbs... Sigh... Lol. Sure it's harder and slower at first. But part of the fun is challenging yourself and learning new things. Once you become an expert at classic crafting it IS faster than console crafting. If you are wanting to craft stacks and stacks of something, instead sitting there holding the button and hearing that annoying sound like an idiot, you can place all your ingredients on the tabe and voila! Instant stacks and no annoying sound! And yes I know that you can repare your tools without and anvil either way, but what you CAN'T do in console crafting is choose what kind of materials you want to use. For example, you want to save your oak wood and use birch to make your sticks? Can't do that without classic crafting. You want to make a crafting table but you only have two spruce and two oak? Well too bad, unless you are using classic crafting, which allows you to mix and match. Besides the benefits, classic crafting IS more satisfying because you feel pride in having memorized all of the recipies and being able to put it all together yourself. That's real crafting.
Turning hay bales into wheat is much faster with classic. Move a whole stack into the grid and poof, 9 stacks of wheat.
Going the other way is painfully slow. Moving 9 stacks into the grid with a slow cursor is just aggravating, and takes much longer than just holding a button.
So I use it only when I craft a large number of items with few ingredients. The crafting process with memorized recipes is just not interesting enough for me to want to use it for anything other than speed.
Edit: I think the game actually does allow mix and match ingredients for recipes that allow different materials with console crafting. I'll double check when I play tonight.

Perpetually negative
There if you want to use it... and even if you don't.
Aren't options Great?!
Amen!
That pretty much sums it up. The end.

Well in my mind it makes the game harder because you have to know all the recipes and it's harder to craft

Yassssss thank you
My thanks to all of you guys for the option.

I also thought the idea of Classic Crafting would be neat, but I found it to be a pain as I couldn't craft as fast.
You can use classic crafting for more challenges and technically more fun
Add me on PSN- engageddread.
I enjoy the idea of having it but probably won't use it as much...
