Hello, I've been wondering... Do wither skeletons have that minuscule chance of dropping wither skeleton skulls? I've been wanting to fight the wither in my survival world. Also, where is the best place to fight the wither? Minimal damage to my land, etc.
Hit them with whatever you want, but kill them with a Looting sword for a 5% chance of a skull drop.
I agree with above that it's best to fight the wither underground. I pick a spawning spot where I've dug it out a bit, but want a bigger room. The wither will help you get rid of a lot of excess stone.
There are lots of tips about fighting the wither, but I prefer to wear some sturdy armor, use a powerful bow to wear him down to 50%, then a good sword to finish him off. Regeneration potions keep me in fighting shape, with some healing just in case.
Protip: You can still get the looting effect when killing mobs with a bow: As soon as you shoot the arrow, switch to your looting sword. This works on all mobs.
Summon him in a cave look on your map and go down to Y 30 so your 30 blocks above bedrock that way he doesn't harm above ground or diamonds that you could mine.
