The problem is specifically with the dispensers behind the spawning pads. They keep making giant waterfalls instead of stopping at the edge of the spawning pads. Help?
Well, about the water not dispensing, when you activate the dispenser once, it dispenses water out the front. Activate it again, and it will suck the water back in. If you simply destroyed the source blocks with something with dirt, you need to take the (empty) bucket from the dispenser, and go find more water.

I replaced all the empty buckets with full ones. They still won't shoot anything out.

Okay, I destroyed the last water source block, but the dispensers won't shoot out water at all now.
