I have been looking through the seed posts and have noticed that some post their seeds as TU16 or TU20 Or TU22. Could someone please explain to me what this notation is? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
That would be an indication of what update version the poster was using in compiling the description of the seed. Some updates have changed the terrain generation algorithms significantly, so the same seed string generated in TU9 (for example) might appear very different if generated in TU23.
"TU" is short for "Title Update", meaning the update version. I think the current version is TU23 or something. Your xbox will tell you to update minecraft each time a new update is released - when online.
Hi, Pumpkin. If you're referring to the load screen message, that's an old one that's been there from the start. The reality of it is that they're always updating the game and there are periodical releases. If you're not constantly online, like me, the best way to find out is to check here or on the wiki main page for the date. If you haven't been online since then, you likely haven't got the newest TU. Just start the game with the machine online and it should tell you that the game's been updated and will ask you to download it. If you get no message and you go straight to playing as usual, you're up to date. At least, that's how I go about it.
Ok but do you need xbox live to get updates on it?
You need a Silver (free / default) account. Simply hook your 360 to the internet and you're set.
If you want to invite players into your world, or play in someone else's world, you will need to dish out $$ for a Gold account.
Also, in case the question ever arises:
It is NOT possible to revert to a previous version of the game. At least not easily.
Unlike the PC version, which allows you to start a world in a previous version, the consoles only support the latest update.
There is a way to take "one step back." You will need back-up a copy of the Title Update file onto a flash drive before you acquire the latest update. You can then delete the new TU file and move the old file back into the Minecraft folder. Naturally, you will have to play offline since it will constantly ask you to update the game.
Alternatively, you can completely delete the TU file and play the "washed out" version of the game. It's the equivalent of TU8 or TU9, but a lot of the little graphical effects are missing, such as grass and leaf gradients, etc.

Awesome. Thank you very much. I'll get the lingo someday. Lol

What happens if it doesn't tell you to update it and only says there will be an update to this game soon???

Ok thanks, I'll try to register an account and get the updates. But before I do, can you tell me what the latest update is?
