Hi there, a while back someone else had questions on finding/mining wither skeletons and SLIMES! See my post(s) HERE regarding finding them in swamps. Hope this helps!
To me, I find it easier than trying to locate slime chunks underground, as swamps arent too rare. And there's also ease of access. Only down fall is the moon phase affects spawn rates in swamps.

Although no-one else believes me on this... I have run into two instances where Chunkbase has been wrong about what was supposed to be a slime chunk. I verified this by recreating the seed as a superflat world in creative mode and then fencing off the chunks in question. I then flew about 30 blocks above the ground during daylight and noted which fenced pens generated slimes. In both cases, the slime chunks were not where Chunkbase indicated they should be and, if this matters, in both cases the seeds were negative number strings. You may want to go through the same exercise by fencing off the coordinates of your slime chunk in a superflat duplicate seed to see whether or not slimes will spawn inside the fenced area.

As a matter of fact, i will back you on this. I have been left unsatisfied lately once with chunkbase. Totally not a slime chunk when i was looking for one.

I've always found mine myself. Just dig out a big room, light up caves nearby, and just chill for a while.
I don't trust locating devices.
More and more, I'm not even bothering with digging out a big room. I just keep mining around and lighting up all the caves... and I usually start encountering enough slime to suit my needs just naturally. Then, I'll write down the coordinates where I encounter them... and go back and enlarge those areas if I do happen to run short of slime.
Some good tips in farming slimes.
-Light up all caves 200 blocks in all directions of the slime chunk.(surface helps)
-Light slime chucks with Jake-o-lanterns. Torches and glowstone will not allow slimes to spawn on them.
-Stay at least 32-200 blocks from your slime chunks when trying to produce slimes.
-They will not spawn to near or far from you.
-Sometimes switching to peaceful, than back to any higher difficulty will help speed up slime production
-Be sure no other player is using any dungeon spawners when trying to produce slimes.
-There are to be no General Mob Grinders within 300 blocks of the slime chunk.
Your overall goal is to be sure no other hostile mobs are or can spawn within 200 blocks of your slime chunk.
There is a rule to the xbox version where you can only have X amount of hostile mobs at a time. If this X amount has been reached than no other hostile mobs will spawn. You want to be well below that number for a good slime farm.

Some proviso's here:
1) As BaconsRevenge pointed out, no mobs will spawn more than 128 blocks away from you... so, don't worry about lighting, etc. any farther away (i.e. 129 blocks to 200 blocks) as it's just wasted effort.
2) Switching to peaceful will despawn any hostile mobs (including slimes) on the entire map... so be sure you've killed off the slimes that have already spawned before you save and exit and then reload in peaceful.
3) Hostile mobs that have spawned farther than 32 blocks away may despawn on their own (regardless of whether or not they can move 20 blocks; i.e. they are not like the passive mobs). This "rule" usually keeps the number of hostile mobs well below the cap limit without difficulties. Slimes, however, are designed to spawn more slowly than other mobs, so if you can keep the hostile mob numbers in the world as low as possible, it will create more "room" in the cap for slimes to spawn faster.

Also light up the caves for 128 blocks in all directions.
I like to make my farm automatic.
They hop off the platform into a water channel, then float down to the end where I drown them and collect the slime balls with hoppers.
