Will any damage that they've taken - such as from player or hostile mob attacks, fall damage, burning, drowning, suffocating, etc. - be restored once they've been turned into a normal villager? I want to create a village inhabited solely by rehabilitated villagers & their babies & have been wondering if any damage taken while they're zombie villagers would roll over to their regular villager hitboxes. I want all my villagers to have full health & will take extra precautions while converting them If I have to.
I wasn't aware that health potions could be used effectively on villagers. I'm not trying to be rude here, but there's no need to be snarky. Unless I find out that villagers' hitboxes are indeed restored upon being converted, it'd probably be in my best interests to take extra measures to make sure they don't take damage because I haven't yet been to the nether & built my brewing area. I have a lot of other projects to work on & don't have tons of time to get around to them all right away. Welp, on to finishing my farm so I can hurry up & do something else, I guess. XD
I don't know if damage taken while a zombie villager is removed upon being cured (would make sense that it was), but when you trade for the newest trade of a villager (initially the only trade and afterwards the one farthest to the right) the villager receives health regeneration for a few seconds. So if you're worried about the newly cured villager's health, trade with them once or twice and they should be at full health.
Oh wow, I'd never heard of villagers regenerating their health when using their newest trade, & I'll definitely keep the idea of being able to have them in one spot & splash a healing potion or two on them for good measure when building my curing area. Thanks so much for the info, guys. And I'll definitely want to have fully built & monster-proofed the village before I even attempt to bring in any villagers to avoid any silly accidents on my part, haha.
I'd recommend finding a village you like the look of, in terms of the current houses and the surrounding terrain, and fortify it by building a large wall around it. I'd recommend making it 3 blocks wide as it will look better, and provide more protection from creepers if you're personally defending it. Have one main entrance with a piston door, or something you feel comfortable with, and put torches in and around every building. I'd also recommend putting torches on both sides of the walls, and on top to prevent monsters spawning anywhere.
Have a small section of your village cordoned off completely where you intend to heal villagers so they don't end up mingling with the rest of the residents. Maybe have it at the front of your village so it acts as a checkpoint they can't pass unless they're healed.
If you feel up to it, you could build a separate building for performing tests on villagers, like testing potions, trades, and other features they provide. Also, build the wall larger than the village so you can expand the population naturally by allowing them to breed (seems an odd word to use for villagers...).
Ah! I should've specified that I planned on building a new village from scratch. I'll definitely need some sort of protective border, but it doesn't have to be anything intense as I have mob-griefing turned off (I actually don't mind the creeper explosions because they're preventable, but withers eating craters into my terrain & endermen making off with my blocks & leaving tacky holes behind annoys the obsessive-compulsive crap outta me). All of your pointers can still be applied to my build, though, & I'll remember them as I start working on it. Thanks!
