They will ATTEMPT to fix it. They haven't been very successful recently.
In all fairness, there was a similar '3-block placing distance' bug several updates back that was fixed. I don't recall specifically, but I believe it was with slabs and/or stairs. So, while every bug fix is essentially an 'attempt' at it, I'm sure 4J will have more luck with this one.
I wish they would "fix" it by changing piston placement to the way log placement works: click the top of a block, piston faces up; click the side of a block, piston faces sideways. Having it be contingent on the player's Y level is... well, stupid! Compact builds using pistons have always been a love/hate issue with me.
Yeah, I can't get pistons to point upwards at all. A friend reckons he had trouble with this but managed in the end by repeatedly placing it until it pointed the right way. I tried this but absolutely no luck whatsoever getting pistons to point upwards however I try and place them. Is it possible or is the bug making it impossible? Does anyone have a technique to resolve this in the short term?
