If you're connectijg hoppers to other hoppers then try shifting then clicking the hopper you want it to funnel in to' this may solve your problem
And what connor means by "shift click" since we're not on PC, is to crouch, then click to place the hopper.
As far as how they face, if you press the button to lay down a hopper while looking from a side view at a wall, or "shift click" while looking from a sode view at another hopper, it will point and feed into said other hopper. If you press while looking at the ground, or while looking down at another hopper, it will feed downward. If you want an upside down hopper - facing upwards - nice try. Unfortunately you cannot do upside down hoppers.
To make items flow up, you'll need droppers. Hope this helps!

Thx for the responses but I'm talking about droppers not hoppers
I'm trying to place them so they flow up I used to be able to but no I can't do I have to look a certain way or something and yes I am crouching they stack just not facing up
I've made 55 droppers and am trying to make a dropper system from bedrock to my house for my mine
Figured it out you now have to be 3 blocks above to place droppers facing up you have got. To look down at the block on the side above where you want to place it you can no longer jump in crouch to place Thx for trying to help guys
Ugh I am having the same problem with the droppers. Don't know why people have started saying he was taking about hoppers though. The original first post did say droppers. Yes I do know about how to place together by crouching. This is a new bug after the new update from the other day. Looking down from 3 blocks up does fix this but this really sucks to do. You have to be looking at the side of 3rd block down to place it facing up to make a elevator. Before the update you could just jump couched and place a stack in no time now it will take forever to place alot on top of one another. I hope they fix this bug really soon as it worked fine before the update.
So the droppers work like how placing wood did in TU18 and below? Hmm... That is how it is sounding. This one should be based on block facing as well, and not player orientation... Should be. Wonder why it was done that way...I'll have to take a look at that, as I didn't realize another update had even came. ><
So many updates for a lot of games in the past couple months... Good to know for now till it is situated.:)

Yup, currently having this problem. No matter what the piston will always face toward me when placed, even when crouched.
4j didn't muddle with the pc version. They are horribly incompetent.
They WERE adding LOADS of stuff in the update, so there's BOUNDS of bugs.
