My world was loaded up before nametags were added. So i unforetunately dont have nametags in my overworld. Also, there arent any in my nether foretress after resetting it and looking thru all the chests. So yea, no nametags for me :/.
I just had a leashed horse that ive had for a week or two despawn on me. I rode it around to places far from my base often. im thinking it may have just despawned in the update earlier today.
Is having a horse leaded to a fence enough to keep it from eventually despawning?
According to patch notes, horses can be kept if they are tamed and in a fenced in area... As for nametags, you can now get them from the Librarian in trades, but it is a rare trade...
You can craft a lead with strings and a slimeball and a fence with planks and/or sticks. Place the fence on the ground and put the horse on the lead and left trigger the fence with the lead in your hand.

Long story short: pay attention!
Plus leads have a tendency to glitch out and disappear, making you lose your animals.
