I was wondering if there were any tips to becoming a Redstone pro? I have all this extra Redstone lying around that I don't know what to do with and was looking for tips? I've tried my hand at a Redstone contraption sort of like a "machine gun" by my house before I realized the lever was outside and was highly ineffective. I have also looked into automating my farms somehow but I don't know the best way to go about it so feel free to please post advice and tips.

Comb through YouTube videos for both ideas and tutorials... there are a ton of them. Since there are more vids made by PC minecrafters than Xbox one, I would look up the PC version history and find the dates they were at the same version we're at now and search for PC videos dated during that period.

I'm rubbish with redstone too. I probably use more of it in potions than anything else. I have tonnes of it lying around, I only mine it for the xp.

I would start looking in building an xp and item mob grinder first.
