When you die with anything valuable on a single player world.... Do you exit without saving or do you let fate take its course and drop you like a sack of potatoes?
I dont die when im host because theres no lag to kill me. I cant even remember the last time i died while host. If i die in someone elses world its usually very laggy and i get blown up by a creeper that is no where near me because i didn't get armor yet.
1) As much as possible, I avoid carrying around unnecessary valuables. That way, if I die, I don't lose anything I can't readily replace. In a single-player world, even diamonds are plentiful enough that losing a few now and then doesn't really jeopardize much.
2) Part of the fun of the game is trying to get your stuff back after dying. I keep a chest of basic swords and armor (and sometimes a spare map Ive made) near my respawn point and will bolt out the door and try to get back to the point of my demise before my stuff despawns. Me thinks that exiting without saving cheats oneself out of this fun. Why play the survival game if you're not really willing to play the game - just go into creative and build instead?
ETA: Another thing I should add - in many of the worlds I start playing, I set a "no death" rule (mimicking hardcore mode) - in which case, the only option after death (and still keep my pact with myself) is to delete the world and start over.
I agree with both points. I have over a full stack of Diamond Blocks just sitting in a chest since I have village sla--shop keepers with all diamond armour and tools at the ready (and nearly three stacks of Emerald Blocks). I may make the 9x9 level of a beacon with pure diamond.
I don't go so far as to having a bunch of backup supplies ready. If it's in a cave, that stuff's gone as far as I can see; if it is anywhere else, I pretty much have my world surface memorized...working on the Nether, too. Experience is no big deal since I have a hunting room and over three stacks of exp. bottle just sitting there above my table.

It kinda Depends on what you have in your inventory or when you died because if you died just briefly after you came into your game and died you can exit without saving if you haven't done anything much, but if you had some good stuff in your inventory and you die i will go after it if i can, i usually do that when i have a big inventory of stuff but if i don't have anything important I will just LET IT DESPAWN.
If not, then I usually just end up going back to the spot I died to retrieve. I rarely exit without saving, as I would loose quite a bit. I am a builder, so it would be more than my inventory that I would loose in that case. I usually don't have auto save on and systematically/periodically save.
If I do have host options on (nullifying achievements), I would have the keep inventory option checked. That is self explanatory.

To be honest, I don't have this problem because I never die. I have died on occasion on my own worlds in survival when a freak accident happens. I hardly even die in friends worlds as me and my friends have good enough internet to make it run like single player survival.
I currently have a large survival build going on, which I have never died once on, and it has only been played on hard survival. However I have recently exited without saving when I went to enchant my two diamond swords, so I guess in a way I am somewhat cheating, but I also have an exp grinder. So I'm not sure if it makes much different game wise as exp is no object for me. Nevertheless I will not be doing it again after taking the time to think about it.
That being said, I am planning on building a separate room in my build where I will have a shrine like object or tribute structure that will be for when I feel I may have cheated the game. Basically it will be for me to sacrifice something I feel is of equal value to the crime I have committed, and the tribute (Be it in items or exp) will either be destroyed or stored in an isolated vault that I will not touch. Although I am also thinking of making it so that the vault can be accessed by guests as a type of donation place as there is nothing wrong with charity imo.

The only way I die is when falling from a high height when not paying attention, that 2 sec fall is so freakin hectic it's a game but wow when ur carrying all that stuff ur heart stops 😱😂
depending on last time I saved I quit and reload without saving, otherwise I run like hell from spawn to where i died 😅
