So I'm building the iron farm designed byJL2579. I have the four "villages" but iv reached the villager cap and can't get enough of them in the fourth area.
I have a few questions, first how many doors does it take to spawn exactly 10 villagers? (That's how many it takes for a golem)
2nd what are ways I can get around the cap. Has anyone built this in console version.
Currently the villager cap is around 50, it's hard to nail this down to an actual number and I'm sure someone out there has experimented with it a little more than I have. Either way, you need 16 villagers for each individual farm. Four farms would take 64 villagers. So right now it's likely not possible to do all four. I've built a few iron golem farms with this design, and I usually make one or two farms. That's usually more than enough iron for my purposes. Considering the villager cap of about 50 I try to 'budget' out my villager count, saving some for a breeder, and some for trading.
As for how many doors.. a single door will spawn .35 villagers, about 3 doors for a single villager. So it would take 29 doors to breed villagers up to 10. BUT, because of the cap on the console edition breeding will stop regardless of the number of doors which is something you have found out. So your fourth farm it probably not worth the trouble.
Also right now there is no way to get around the cap on consoles that I know of..
