I'm... well not really a noob but kind of. Anyways I'm on the 360 and started a survival mode. I've been desperately looking for skeleton spawner so I used eyes of ender to find strongholds. It took me to the one stronghold I found on my own, and that's it. It will only go in that direction. I had to switch to creative just to test it and yeah no matter where I am in the world it always leads back to the same fortress.
So is this common? Or do I only have one stronghold?
Well, in your entire Minecraft world there are only 3 strongholds. seeing as your world can be 30,000,000 x 30,000,000 they are most likely spaced apart. your ender eyes will point to the closest stronghold, so you will need to go out a long way to find another i guess. try going a hundred blocks away in the nether, then create a portal a throw one then. hope this helps
Spawners are found in small rooms called dungeons, not strongholds and the Eyes of Ender will only point you to the stronghold. The best ways to find a skeleton spawner could be to use an x-ray glitch, strip mining or the most fun method is to just get out there and find them by caving They will always be attached to a cave rather than just being a room on their own surrounded by stone. If you hear lots of mobs all making the same noise then that's a good indication you're close to one and you should head in that direction.
They are not always found in a cave. I've found some just buried in rock. Others are found in the desert right at the surface.

Dungeons always spawn in an open area (of 5×5×3, 5×7×3, or 7×7×5), not specifically as attached to caves.

I've found buried dungeons completely encased in stone as well, although extremely uncommon, all they need is a pocket hole of roughly the right size to spawn inside of during world generation.
Today Eyes of ender led me to three dungeons! I never get led to strongholds, I only get led to dungeons.
It sounds like you aren't using them correctly...or you aren't following them all the way to their ultimate destination and you are just randomly stumbling upon dungeons along your path while you are trying to follow/use them.
I dont know. I have the computer version and maybe they need to fix it in an update. And when it led me to three dungeons, my brother did have dungeons on 100. Maybe your correct.:) Another thing: I am not a liar.
Maybe it is a matter of terminology... when you say 'dungeon' are you referring to a single room with a monster generator in it that might be found within a cave systems? or are you referring to something a bit more elaborate? Lots of corridors, rooms, stairs twist and turns, etc.
If you are playing the PC version (not the console version) then there are 3 strongholds per world... and a stronghold can look like a dungeon if you don't know what you are looking at and you aren't that familiar with Minecraft yet.

Ahh.
Perhaps being more cognizant of which forum you are posting in would prevent cynics like myself from jumping to conclusions.
Sorry the the "liar" comment, but there has been no lack of trolls on this forum, and as Greg pointed out, perhaps you are simply mistaken on the accepted terminology of the game. A Dungeon is one room with a random MOB spawner in it. The Stronghold is the complex of Stone Brick that houses the Ender Portal.

He says he's on the XBox 360 version. In that version, the world is much more limited (862×862) and has only one stronghold.

I'm Canadian, and there is no igloos around. Or snow. Or polar bears. Or moose because I live in a city, but there are moose in the country.

Agreed... I've seen a couple of those special cases where "it's possible for the dungeon itself to overwrite most of a very small cave."
I haven't yet.

Post a video or you are a liar.
