On two separate occasions my stick pistons would not work on any of my red stone items- My items include:
1) small automatic vegetable farm-- 6 pistons and holds about 80 vegetables....
2) a 220 sticky pistons mob grinder in the overworld-- much like the ender mob spawner
3) I large vegetable farm --- approx. 9 pistons and over 300 wheat...
4) automatic pumpkin spawner 24 stick pistons
5) automatic sugar cane spawner 16
6) automatic wood cutter--- 24 pistons as of now...
After the bug occurred, my pistons would not work... I went to my large automatic wheat farm, very heavy in graphics... and tried engaging the sticky pistons, so that the water would run down... The pistons did not work... So I then saved and exited the game. Immediately reloaded the game.. Did not change ANYTHING-- texture packages, skins, etc... Just reloaded the game. then immediately flipped the switch to engage my pistons to the large vegetable farm... Pistons worked and all other machine pistons started working.. On both occasions when this bug occurred that solved the issue. Trying to recreate the bug now to get a third verifications.. If anyone else could verify that would be great --- FYI...
My hypothesis is you have a really big veggie farm-lol. My theory is the bug is occurring because of the graphics of the veggies...So is your veggies still planted? I mean if you harvest them and just have an empty field I am thinking it might not occur.
Pistons are really buggy now post update. But yes, I've seen the same bug while experimenting with redstone.
Here's the gist as best as I can replicate. The pistons have an error state, when you do something that will cause them to glitch out, they enter this reset state and all is well. I believe that reset state is broken. Instead of resetting, all pistons sticky or plain in the whole map simply stop working. A relaunch seems to solve the problem. I've seen this in completely brand new empty superflats too so I really don't think the size of your farm has anything to do with it.
I was trying to replicate this Tree Farm - . I've used it before. However post update the bottom piston no longer fires. While debugging it in my test world I;
Stacked 3 pistons.
I put a block on the middle one.
Put redstone on that block.
I put another block two away from the bottom - making stairs.
Put redston on that
I then ran a few more blocks of redstone wire to a level so I can test. and it all worked well.
I think broke the block below the bottom piston and it stopped firing. It's not even part of the system and it died.
