Having problems with the haste 2 beacon no working. When active I mine just as fast as when it is not. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing these problems. Keep in mind I am using an old world (before the last update).

How old your world is shouldn't matter in this case. Are you sure you are selecting and getting the proper effect? Does it say Haste II or simply Haste. People usually use Haste II to instant mine with efficiency V. That's the most noticeable effect. But you need efficiency V to instant mine stone.. Is that what you're looking to do?

My world was made in the last big update. And it is haste 2 however I am only using efficiency IV. And instant mining is what I am I am looking to do.

That's the issue then.. With a beacon giving you haste 2 you need efficiency 5 to instant mine. I'd recommend combining 2 picks with efficiency 4 to get yourself to 5.. Also I'd seriously recommend renaming the pick too. That way you can repair it endlessly without it getting too expensive after 2-3 repairs. I've learned that instant mining can eat through the durability of a pick pretty fast.
