I'm confused.
Now that you know how things work, what's the problem?
The 360 isn't like the One. On my 360 I can't simply copy a world and then rename it like I can on my One- which I'm assuming that's what your daughter wants- to play (and save) the "tutorial"l world as her own, but without messing up the original Tutorial World.
I recently bought a new XB360 console for my 10yr old daughter to replace her older generation XB360 after it crashed.
As I purchased MC for her XBLive profile previously it prompted to download it again which I did [free].
Playing offline, MC goes straight to tutorial constantly prompting to download full game and is unable to save.
BUT
When she uses her XBLive profile MC [full game] works perfectly.
with offline I mean no internet wifi available
What I'm taking out of this is that you purchased a new XB360 to replace an older XB360 that you HAD purchased MC on originally via a XBLA profile, and when you re-download it and try to play offline on the new console, you only get tutorial mode.
So what you still need to do is a license transfer so that the MC game now associates to your new XB360 instead of the old XB360. As long as the licence isn't updated for the new console, it won't allow you to play the full version of the game.
Thanks Greg, I watched the youtube video but it wasn't very clear from which console I need to be on to do the transfer. As her old XB360 is dead I only have the option of doing the license transfer on the new console. Would this be correct?
Correct... there isn't much point in transferring the licence TO the broken XBox... so there is no reason to have to use the old (aka. broken) XBox for the license transfer.
i have something to add i have had the same xbox for years no and my minecraft works fine with internet but when i have no internet i loads up the tutorial mode and force quits me after a couple of mins saying i need to buy the game altho i have bought it from xbox live years ago (noticed this thread and thought of giving my two cents) it might be that since i bought it from xbox live i need to be online for it to work but since i downloaded it shouldnt it be able to work offline?
It is not that you have to be online to play a downloaded version. IF the game is licensed properly to the console you are playing on, the full game will run offline with no difficulties. It is only if the license for the game is actually on another console that the game will revert to the demo mode if offline. This is so the conolse can then verify that the gamertag playing the game is the licensed gamertag (This facilitates people who have bought the game being able to play it in other locations - like Xboxes in hotels and such.) Your issue is definitely that the console you are playing on is not the licensed console but your gamertag is the licensed purchaser. To correct the issue, you need to go into your Live account online and transfer the license to the console you are playing on. You can do this from that console (while it is hooked up to the internet) or you can do it through the website. Instructions for doing license transfers are on Microsoft Live's website. If there is still a problem, you should contact Microsoft to get your account straightened out.

This YouTube Video should help:
