"AUGH!!" was the sound everyone heard on that fateful day when Mojang decided that the XBOX 360 version could not have custom skins. I was really bugged when I found out that the XBOX 360 version does not support custom skins. Do you know why this is? FREAKIN' COPYRIGHT ISSUES!! Then, Mojang, explain to me why it is not a copyright infringement to include Assassin's Creed skins in your skin packs! That seems to me more of a copyright infringement than somebody making their own "Super Mario". Now it could be that Mojang asked special permission from Ubisoft. I don't know for sure. But then another thing strikes me. It's legal to have custom skins on PC. So why not on the XBOX? Does anybody know if its possible for custom skins to eventually make its way into XBOX? I mean it has happened before where a game publisher declares that they won't include a certain character or feature in a game... and it happened! I really hope they provide custom skins in an update.
It's not 'copyright' issues- it's that consoles will never open themselves to outside sources of the internet (like the PC does). Everything must go through their own servers, and all content must be approved by them (even from "authorized" developers) and downloaded to your console from their servers. (Hey, it's for a reason. For instance your console doesn't have to have an antivirus program, does it? Programs for your console always work without worrying about "specs", right?)
Sorry, consoles will never have 'custom' skins. 4J is the only one authorized to make Minecraft and content for the consoles. While they could make a 'custom skin editor', they never will because they make their own DLC skins. There's several skin packs (with 40 skins each), so choose one of those. You can give them a try for free, and there's 5 skins in each that you can keep. Out of 100+ skins, I'm sure you can find one you like.
There was a suggestion a little while ago about 4J instead making up mix and match skin elements (heads, torsos, legs, feet, etc.) and selling those as DLC packs. It would require changing some things programming-wise (if I understood the discussion correctly), but it would allow players to somewhat customize their look without either violating Microsoft's policies or cutting off a revenue source for the developer. OP: rather than rant here in the discussion section about Microsoft's policies (which will not change anything), perhaps go to the suggestions section, dig up that thread, and support it.
But suggestions occasionally get reported as "idea farming".
"Idea farming"? I'm pretty sure I don't have a warning for that. Take a look at the rules for the Suggestions section -- basically, if you're starting a thread, make sure it's a new suggestion, not one that's been up before, and not one that's already on another platform (the devs already know about those), limit it to one suggestion per thread, and explain just what it's all about. "We should get X item" = vague. "We should get X item. It would have this effect on gameplay. You'd craft it from that. It would interact with those things like that" = good. If you're not starting a thread, just commenting on someone else's thread, most of that doesn't matter, though instead of just "no support" you do need to explain why ... "No support; the Red Squid is just a recolored Squid."
Also, since this has mutated into more of a suggestion, and the original topic has already been dealt with, I'll be locking this thread.
