My child is on a Lego Robotics team and as part of the competition, they have to study and develop a way to help someone learn something in a new and better way than what is done currently. They chose the broad subject of Minecraft for XBox 360 and, more specifically, have decided they want to research the use of virtual reality to help teach other kids their age to play. I know that sounds pretty ambitious, but these are 8-10 year old kids that have been given executive decision making authority over the whole competition and the adults are pretty much just playing referee and guiding the mayhem. If anyone here would be able to point me in the direction of who we could talk to about some specifics of developing VR for Minecraft, it would be much appreciated.
I don't know exactly what you are looking for... but the Console Edition is not specifically set up for VR as yet. But here's an article that Notch (creator of Minecraft for the PC/Mac's via Java) was commenting on the potential of Virtual Reality with todays technology: http://notch.net/2014/03/virtual-reality-is-going-to-change-the-world/
Of course, Minecraft development with the Occulus Rift Technology went to the wayside when the Occulus Rift was sold to Facebook and Mojang was sold to Microsoft:
I guess I'm more or less looking for a specific person or place that you guys might know of where I could find answers to a multitude of questions regarding VR. The project revolves around the concept of using VR to enhance the experience of those learning the basics of Minecraft for Xbox360 for the first time. (I've never played Minecraft and know nothing about it, so I'm just doing what I can.) Some of the things they need to look into would include the cost of R&D, production, cost to consumer, effectiveness as a teaching aid, etc. They don't have to actually make it work, they just need to show that they thought about it and looked into it enough to support their position.

Thanks for the links. I know the 'coach' was aware of the sale to Microsoft, but the Occulus Rift "no-deal" is news to all of us. It is encouraging, though, that at least a tiny bit of thought has gone into VR on Minecraft to some capacity.
I appreciate the help. My kid and I have never played Minecraft and my Xbox 360 hasn't had anything but a DVD in it in almost a year, so this is all unfamiliar territory for us. Interestingly enough, the team conducted a survey of the 4th and 5th grade classes and found that 70% of those kids play Minecraft on the Xbox360. My kid's only 9 years old and already behind the times.
