My story begins when one day I turned on my Xbox and opened up Minecraft.
This was a few days after my dad gave me a device that allowed me to have wireless internet access, and it was also the first time I opened up the game since then.
I opened up the game and it said an update was available for the game (an update that I had already had? I don't know why I had to update it again). I updated it and... about 80% of the way through, I think the internet went out or something. So the download stopped and then I started again and the update managed to complete (this was the update that introduced trade with villagers and other stuff, which I already had).
So once the update was complete I opened up my favorite world. Once the loading was done, I appeared over the sea and fell into the water. I thought "what, this isn't where I was last time" so I flew up and looked around and thought "oh my god this is not my world." This world had a weird seed, I was above an ocean and the nearest land had a straight edge (it was a forest that had a perfectly straight shore).
I fly around to discover further that this was not the world I had. I had a TON of buildings in a spot on the map, but they were not there. This wasn't my world.
I exited (without saving of course) and I looked at the icon for that world of mine. It still showed the buildings (the screenshot of when you would save a game) that I had created. There is no sign of corruptness in the save EXCEPT when you're actually in it.
Once I had exited that world, I logged into a different one (which was a superflat world with an extensive village that I made). The same weird world opens up. I thought "why is this world opening up on my saves? this one isn't even superflat."
So I turned off my xbox and turned it on again. From then on all the other worlds I opened were okay. But those two were not. They are still in my Xbox, still have the same icon with the buildings and stuff, but still open up to that annoying weird world.
I tried putting them in a USB and I switched to that storage device and I opened it up, and they were the same weird world. My world is gone, but the fact that the icon remains on the save gives me hope that it could be recoverable.
Anyone ever experience this? Anyone know how to recover them? Thank you.
You should check your Hard Drive to see if the world saves have a Yellow circle with an exclamation point inside it. If so, the save has become corrupted and unless you have a backup saved on another device, I'm afraid there's no chance of retriving it to my memory. If they aren't, then you might need to contact some sort of support site. Not sure if 4J has one, might need to contact Microsoft about it.
You could also try deleting the latest title update, there might be one that messed up (the one that didn't go through) just look for those exclamation points. Not sure if you can delete TU's but you can clear your system cache, that usually makes you have to re-do title updates. (HDD>Press Y>Clear System Cache)
"... check your Hard Drive to see if the world saves have a Yellow circle..."
You mean like, go to Storage and check minecraft saves stored in the hard drive? I don't recall seeing an exclamation mark in a yellow circle but I'll check when I'm home. Thank you for your suggestion.
Also, I did try to delete the title update. I opened up minecraft and updated again and the worlds were still corrupted. The next time I opened minecraft the same update was available even though I didn't delete it again (wtf?). But once again thank you for your help. I'll probably end up contacting some support site. ;(
poetic has the best answer. but here's a heads up that i learned the hard way. if you delete minecraft and re-download it, all your saves will be gone. i asked so many people and they said "no your saves will be fine". either way my point being if it comes down to you re-installing minecraft, make sure to save your maps into a USB.

This seems somewhat fishy. New updates in Minecraft 360 completely overwrite previous updates, so you should have only one update file on your system at a time... and that file would be the most recent one you updated. Plus Live only downloads the most recent update, period. Older updates are not available to anyone for download through Live. People have been reporting an issue with the most recent update wiping worlds (probably due to a problem within the file transfer feature to the Xbox One)... or now I'm starting to wonder if the problem starts by people trying to get to previous updates somehow and then opening worlds in a version which is prior to the one they last saved the world in. This sort of attempt WILL corrupt the save file, period.
