Are the spawn chunks on the Xbox 360 Edition always loaded, and if you have redstone that is fully automatic is it always running no matter how far away you are like on the pc? If so how big are the spawn chunks exactly.
chunks are 16x16. if you start the minecraft then the chunks are loaded in your area. If you travel to the other side of the map and back then all those chunks are loaded. The spawn area is 20 by 20 and is permanently set for the map.

To add to this, the chunks that are loaded are the chunk that each player is immediately in and all chunks that are up to 7 chunks away from that central chunk (including 7 straight east/west/north/south, 6 in one direction and 1 perpendicular, 5 and 2 perpendicular, etc.)
And as chunks are loaded into the game, they are only loaded for the duration of that game session, once you quit the game and come back, the process starts over again.
This can cause some redstone issues if the redstone is sufficiently far enough away from you when you quit and save, and then re-load the game.
I just wanted to know because I have been experiencing some really bad lag issues on my console and I wanted to know if it was because I built my fully auto melon farm to close to spawn and it was running 24/7

I don't believe that the latency you are experiencing has anything to do with proximity of redstone machines to your spawn point... It's likely the fully auto melon farm itself.
Tell me, is your redstone circuitry well illuminated by static lighting (torches/glowstone)?
I might have a picture of it somewhere on my phone hang on
What Greg is asking is did you make sure to place torches or glowstone around the redstone torches and repeaters. Because if you did not, then the lag you are experiencing is very likely due to lighting updates when the RS components flash on and off.
Just so you know, lighting updates cause the worse amount of lag so its best to eliminate them whenever you can. This means making your redstone builds BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT.
