so i was making a new world and i got one of those Giant farms the problem is that animals literally spawn on my crops and sometimes destroy them. it seems like thats the only place they like to spawn. is there i way to make them stop withought making that area pitch black? i was thinking (because i also have an animal farm) that i could just max out the spawn for each animal. but is there an easier way stop them from spawning on my land?

You should make a 18x18 pen (Put it somewhere away from your farm, the noise gets to be pretty annoying). Then, whenever an animal spawns in your farm, lead it into the pen, and trap it in. After a while, no more animals should spawn anywhere near your farm.

I was under the impression that animals spawn on grass area only. If you fence off a dirt area, perhaps that'll stop it?

unfortunately your impression is incorrect. animals can spawn anywhere it is light enough. or most places at least.
