I hate Redstone! I have tried everything. I've looked up YouTube tutorials, I've copied designs from my friends' worlds. I even bought a book dedicated to Redstone! I have followed all steps EXACTLY! And my Redstone creations STILL don't work properly. All I want to do is create cool hidden doors and stairs like everybody else and my stuff never works right. Can anyone help me understand what is going wrong??

You are going to have to describe what exactly the problem is with the door you have made. We can't tell you what to fix by just looking at the pictures because we don't know what you might have done incorrectly with what you built.
Nevertheless, judging from the pictures used, I assume that your red stone wiring is improperly timed. You would need to have a time delay for the pistons that pull the stone blocks to the side. So check your red stone repeater or two and make sure they are calibrated properly.
If it helps, try making two separate circuits towards the two piston sets. All you would need to do it make it where they both branch off from the main wire, and the one wire is slower than the other.

Sorry for the second post. Is the second picture your own design? By the looks of it, your red stone current is not reaching them. Take some more pictures with better detail as its hard to compare the guide and yours due to the angle.
With the change in piston timing since TU16, those type of JEB doors simply do not work in MCXBLA anymore. You're going to need to research versions that specifically work for the Xbox. it is possible to still make hidden doors that work using old-style ABBA switches; however, these designs are no where near as compact as the common JEB examples you'll find on the web.
(Btw - I know the book you bought - even though it says everything is compatible with the 360 - it isn't).
More broadly, you always have to check the vintage of the redstone designs you are copying, most circuits you will find today will not work because we don't have the redstone update yet.

Hope this helps
