So me and a couple of friends have been working on this creative world for quite a while, and I wanted to try something with maps. it's basically a bunch of differant themed ares across the map, but the problam is that they don't all show up on the map. I need someway of people being able to look at a map and finding out where to go. Now I need to do this by either-
1) putting markers around the otherworld that are visable on the map but kind of blend in with the map (I don't want random lava pillars everywhere)
2) marking the nether or the end in places that correspond with the over world. Now I tried both lava and water in the end but neither were viewable on the map (it could have been too small though) I am willing to put a roof over the whole of the end if it would get this thing working, but I would like to know that it will work first. I also though about maybe using some kind of grid to find the right co-ordinate but i don't think that's possible
does anybody have any ideas at all? I'm willing to invest a good amount of time into this if i know it will work. I can also show you the world if I helps. Thanks
One pixel on the 360 Edition map represents 1/4 of a chunk. If you lay a specific color block in an 8x8 area with nothing else above it then it should show a pixel that color provided you've refreshed that area on the map.
Don't know about the End since I've never bothered to craft an End map. The Nether map probably won't work since the nether doesn't really have a discerrnible "surface" to it. I've never seen even naturally generated features show on a nether map... just basically a brown sheet. It's redeeming quality is that you can read coordinates off the map. You could set up direction signs in any of the dimensions with map coordinates written on them.

Yeh I suppose it could work. I will probably end up screen shoting the map and labelling it on the computor. I tried the urban bears suggestion, but I think the map only shows certain colours and it was very vissable from the ground. I did go and fill in every surface lava pool, so I could try to make some more that look natural, but act as a marker on the map.

No, the map system could use revising. Each wool I tried came up as a pale white colour which is fine, but i needed a couple markers to go in a dessert biome. It's not a problam though as we are planning to put in some pathways for people to get between the most important places. Either that or I will try the lava pools. But thank you both for the help
