Helllo fellow Minecraft players, I'm RockSmash and I'm new to the forums.
Ever since my bro and I created our first map on my profile we've been wanting to "download" it onto his account and I heard that's what seeds are for. On the Create New World settings I put "RockSmash_Survival" as my world's seed. But then, when I select that world from the menus it says that world's seed is 938251590? So when I try inputting that seed or the original one in my bro's account it creates a completely new world! I've tried it with several other seeds and it does the exact same thing .-. which is really annoying.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or that I might be missing in order to create the exact same world I want from my profile? Thanks in advance
They havent enabled downloading worlds yet. The seeds are only for world generation
But isn't it almost the same thing? Because I see people looking for "Good World Seeds" for them to play on and I also watched this YouTube video where this guy inputs a seed from a world from the PC version and he was able to generate the exact same world.

Well you might be typing something wrong. Because I tested this out and it worked for me. Just triple check and make sure everything is the same. Is he or you on different versions of the game(Title updates)? Is he on PlayStation? As for the download question, you can't do that without breaking the ToS. As for the "Same as PC seed" That might have been because the xbox and PC seed generator were somewhat the same. But right now pc and xbox seeds will never be the same, as is.
You are misunderstanding what seeds do. Seeds generate a fresh world, they do not generate your builds or any changes you make to the map. If your seed is 938251590 and you type that into the seed section and tell it to create a world, it will generate a duplicate of your world BEFORE YOU MADE ANY CHANGES OR ADDITIONS TO IT. The game's algorithms use that numerical string to create the biomes and place the ores and such. It may not even be the same as your world when it was created IF THERE WAS AN UPDATE TO THE GAME SINCE YOU FIRST CREATED YOUR WORLD (since updates sometimes change those formulas to accomodate new biomes and new structures). When people are looking for seeds, they are looking for generated terrain that is suitable for whatever they have in mind to build... not a finished map built by someone else to play on.
As SquishGordo mentioned - map sharing has not been enabled on the console editions like it is on the PC. The only legitimate way your brother will be able to play in your finished world is if your gamertage is signed in to Minecraft and you have launched your map yourself.

Oh!.... Okay, I'm sorry. I just thought it would be like in Halo where you can download finished maps and play on them. Thank you all for your support! (: And thank you, UpUp_Away95 for telling me what seeds really do xD

I will try your seed again and see if it works. But like I said, you might be doing something wrong because It works for me. Hope I helped somewhat
I believe we both have the same version of the game, since we both play it on the same Xbox...
