Just a thought I've been having. I see it talked about a lot but, to me, I like the limit we have. I like exploring but, I also like being able to get back home without getting lost as heck. I just wish there was better seeds with more variety but, maybe I'm wrong.
You're also not going to get seeds with more variety unless you get larger worlds. The only other way is to reduce the size of biomes to fit them into the tiny 864 x 864 worlds. Then everyone would complain about biomes being too small. Developing a video game is an uphill battle you can never win.
I'm with Mustache_Guy.
I think 95% of don't need bigger worlds on the 360.
But I also think 95% of us think we do.
Sounds like 2 different poll questions to me.
Now, as it is now, would I like more variety with smaller biomes per world, or less variety but larger biomes per world?
Tough choice.
While the current size is decent I wouldn't mind seeing them increase by 4x or 8x. If they ever give the 360 Edition the new biomes thats the only size I see being practical.
I'm going to respond just for me personally... I definitely don't need or particularly want a larger world.
I have no problems with starting another world at any time - either to play with different people or build on a different theme or just to enjoy starting out with nothing again in survival... and I can start an infinite number of those (as long as I have room on my hard drive and/or money to buy USB sticks).
As for exploring, I don't see the point of walking around farther and farther away from home base in a larger world all the time when I can explore an entirely new world, all I have to do is create one... and all that takes is a couple of clicks of the controller and a few seconds to load.
For themed worlds, I prefer worlds with fewer biomes or even single biomes (and would like a means to tell the game what sort of biomes I would like so I don't have to create so many new worlds before I get lucky and the game generates a random one like what I want).
Also, if I become unhappy with a build, it's not as tough to just quickly scrap the world, recreate the seed and start over in a new world. I don't have to worry about destroying a bunch of other builds that I really love or, having older crappy builds kicking around my world as my building skills are improving,
If my file save gets corrupted in some way, it's also not a big a tragedy (since I don't have as much "invested" in it as I might if I had spent months and months just building up one larger world).
In addition, there are many things in the game that I would certainly not want to give up to incorporate a larger world... I like splitscreen, and having the nether and the end, etc.
I think one benefit to the smaller worlds with fewer biomes is that the player is "forced" to deal with the environment he lands in. Well, obviouslty, he can regenerate...
What I mean by this benefit, is that if spawn on a desert, the challenge before me is to make the best of that desert. If in reality, I just need to head off in any direction and I'll get to something "better", than I am not really dealing with the environment I'm given, as I can eventually find an easy environment.
For Survival style of play, I think this is actually crucial to the format. It's like those Discover Channel shows. Guy gets dropped off in the wilderness, and must survive.
at the extreme end of it, I might like the 360 map to be locked into one biome (or at least a setting like that).
There are several issues here. The 360 can not handle the game as is especially multiplayer so more stuff will not help. I want bigger world and there is good reason. In single player you can build on the size we have now for a while but in multiplayer we do need bigger worlds. Often people join a server build a mansion on a hill then don't go back to the server much so after a few months you can not travel the map without seeing stuff built everywhere.
You're also not going to get seeds with more variety unless you get larger worlds. The only other way is to reduce the size of biomes to fit them into the tiny 864 x 864 worlds. Then everyone would complain about biomes being too small. Developing a video game is an uphill battle you can never win.
