I'm pretty sure you all are well aware of the many uses for Gold in Minecraft. I've recently searched around the forum and seen the many threads of how useful Gold really is. ( Sarcasm but not sarcasm )
Anywho, I recently posted into a forum Thread entitled "Best Use For Gold" and a user by the name of "Deathwhitch" had this to suggest about a better use for Gold. "I want golden arrows! One hit creeper kills this will also make TNT less rare and more useful as a mining tool"
Well Not to Steal any thunder from "Deathwhitch"
(Outside of the 1 Hit Creeper Kills & TNT) I honestly thought this was a great & fair idea. Ok, it is well known that Gold isnt useful for as much as its names worth in Minecraft, but I do believe that this might be a legitimate idea to a degree. Golden Arrows should do SLIGHTLY more damage than the regular arrows should, and might add an interesting new aspect to Minecraft in general.
There are Pro's & Con's however.. But I will let you all measure those concepts for discussion, let me know what guys think about this idea in the reply sections and if you have any other thought or ideas on how to improve Gold's effectiveness outside of the most obvious ones feel free to express as so.
Gold arrows sound like a good idea to me. So how about this in addition: Gold arrows will shoot straight, and won't sink. They will do an extra heart of damage extra. I like the creeper idea too. Support

I like the non-sinking aspect alot. Which means they would be non-stackable also I assume?? & geesh lol everyone is sold on the Creeper idea. Sadly, Im not as of yet although I do like the general direction of the idea. I feel like it'll be too easy to kill a creeper then.. But I'll explain under the quote below
Golden arrows sound really nice , and as too woodblock above . Perhaps they will only shoot straight with a golden bow ? Which , if golden arrows are being added sounds like golden bows would be unique .
I think Golden Bows sound unique as well. I do like that idea of them shooting straight based on this principle tho.
Your FIRST SHOT may be the only arrow that shoots straight and can only shoot straight from a GOLDEN BOW. (For balanced purposes because honestly, if all the arrows shot straight, that would take the skill out of the Bow & easily make it a heavy favorite weapon of choice. However, once again, there are counters to it. For example : The number of gold ores in a world could be limited significantly in which Gold is indeed EXTREMELY Rare to find).

True True, i forgot all about powered rails and other things in mind. Full charged sounds pretty good as well. I wonder if it would mean anything to have the Golden Bow an uncraftable item but a drop instead. (From like a Boss Skeleton or such)
Seriously arrows made outa gold that go straight? You are aware that gold generally weighs alot more then wood. Gold has its uses, being powered rail, but more importantly golden apples, and soon enough notch apples

This is minecraft, the rules don't have to apply. But, if you want to go by the rules, then maybe instead of gold arrows, there should be golden bows. The arrows they shoot will never sink. And Notch apples are already in the game

Yeah, I think we grasped that concept. I believe thats why the Golden Bow was suggeted. lol nobody knows the true strenght of Steve, but if he can punch a tree into a wood-block, im pretty sure he wont have that much of a challenge as to shooting an arrow straight a few yards out.

Ideally tho, It is can only go straight if charged on a regular bow at the expense of your energy. So, maybe you can pop off a few arrows, but not many. (Unless you have a golden bow of course.)

Gold has it's uses and is renewable; don't forget nuggets drop from Zombie Pigmen.

Come on Cire, this is Minecraft. Remember the weighted pressure plates? Gold is heavier than iron yet the gold weighted pressure plate is the "light" version and the iron is the "heavy" version. Not the best example but still.
You're talking about a game where the main character can hold 45 metric tons .
So Steve can hold 44.5 million kilogram. Not only that, he can jump 1.249 meter high while holding this. And all this, he can do in the world of minecraft. According to this site , the gravity is 3 times as strong then on earth. So that's 1,335,000,000 newtons. How much energy does he need to jump 1.249 meter high? 1.667 gigajoule.
That's about the kinetic energy of one and a half thousand one ton vehicles at a speed of 100 mph

Dang
But we're getting off topic now. Golden arrows Vs the golden bow. I prefer the golden bow idea. It could be crafted by using gold ingots instead of sticks, or by taking a regular bow and surrounding it by gold ingots. Arrows shot on a full charge will sail straight without sinking. And I think there should be another bonus to using the golden bow. Extra damage maybe? Or how about better enchantability. A level 8 enchant could get power 2, or power 1 with punch.

I think the better enchanting should do being that Gold generally has the better enchantments on most tools anyway.
So we can boil down ingots inside a cauldron , and dip around 5 arrows per gold ingot used , and you must refill the cauldron after around 15 golden arrows ?
Okay , question : Are we going with the golden bow has more enchant-ability (perfectly fine logic here , gold is awesome at that) ? Does it have a little less durability ? So , I think we've established this :
Golden Bows : High Enchants | Lower Durability ?
Golden Arrows : When fired from a Golden Bow goes straight . Deals extra damage regardless of bow . | Made by : Either replacing X with golden nugget/ingot OR by melting ingots in cauldron ?
I do like this idea a lot .
But I dislike the golden flint
.
Honestly, me to. I love this Idea. Scratch the gold bow, what about a iron bow [ dipped in iron using the cauldron ]

Yeah, IMO, the Arrows should be dipped in the gold period. That way it feels like a process in which the player is getting rewarded for. I also feel the Golden Bow can only be constructed on an anvil requiring you to have a certain amount of EXP lvls to create it. (Because after-all, we are giving people a weapon that does extra damage & da*n near defies gravity lol)
Also, these Arrows arent stack-able either(because they are Heavy), so I assume 8-10 Arrows should do for the cauldron.
