Blockscape is a block, voxel, game- it just can use various size blocks (instead of just one) and it uses 'smoothed' blocks.
Instead of working on the graphics (modders seem to have no problem), Mojang has decided to concentrate on adding more gimmicky 'features', like witches and horses. Oh well. Their decision.
The point I was trying to make was there's no point in increasing the resolution unless you improve the graphics. And face it, MC looks bad. Maybe on purpose, but it still looks bad.
Exactly, Blockscape is NOT a block based game. It has curves, smooth corners, diagonal slants. It's not all 1 meter cubes like Minecraft is. Hence why the nicer graphics fit it so well.
Blockscape looks nice because it's not made of cubes...
Minecraft would not look anywhere near that good with upgraded graphics unless the entire games physics, mechanics, and world generation were changed. Mojang is adding things people are asking for. More mobs like horses, rabbits, and witches. Better redstone mechanics. More biomes.
4K is useless unless you have a TV that can display it anyways. I don't really feel like buying a $1500 TV just to see slightly sharper lines and detail in my video games.
Yes, the game has blocks in it and you can build with blocks but that isn't all it is. That's the point I'm trying to make to you. The world has curves, smooth slants, rounded edges. It's not a completely cube based thing like Minecraft is. Every single thing in Minecraft is cubes and squares. From textures the the blocks that make up the world, it's all square. Making the graphics "nicer" or more modern looking would render the game looking bad.
The reason Blockscape looks so nice is because not every single thing in the world is cubes. Trees in Blockscape are round. The environment, while certainly chunky sometimes, generates a lot of circles, smooth arches, rounded beaches, etc, etc. There is a large difference between voxels, which is what Blockscape uses and blocks, which is what Minecraft uses.
Because of Minecrafts lack of curves, smooth edges, or anything even remotely close to round, higher resolution graphics or overall better graphics do not look good in the game. Blockscape has the advantage of not having it's entire game made of 1 meter cubes like Minecraft. It has curves, edges, and round things. Those all make it look better with its shinier graphics.
I like the way minecraft looks. If minecraft looked like some Call of Duty map landscape that would detract from it. I don't need or want higher resolution or different graphics. I want less lag, bigger maps, more mobs like sea creatures, better multiplayer and of course better anti-griefing tools.
Understood. MC is what it is. Some people (like the OP) want better graphics, some don't. MC can't be everything to everyone. In fact, there's probably just as many people who (gasp!) don't like MC as those than do.
There's plenty of MC clones out there. Some people would love Cubeland. Course, development has stopped (it never got out of alpha), the facebook (or twitter, can't remember which) has been shut down, etc. Block Story has more sea creatures and RPG-feel, and so on. Terasoloty also has good graphics. There's better games than MC for some people. Depends on what floats their boat.
I'd rather do without the resolution and shaders and have it continue to run as smoothly as possible on the Xbox 360. Bottomlline, if the game lags more, I'd enjoy it less and less... no point spoiling it for the sake of any new features, let alone just shaders. If they do decide to start addings in things like this, I hope they leave the 360 Edition out of it (i.e stop updating it before following the PC and the next gens lag it right to a standstill anyways.
