so i have recently found out that mc console sales surpassed pc sales. But it shocked me. it is quiet believable since many people own consoles but the pc version has way more things in it and is more advanced. i am surprised how many people dont have pcs anymore and now have consoles. well thats my opinion, i would love to see yours in the comments. Cya!
So yes the consoles have sold more copies of Minecraft than PC combined however PC have still sold more copies than any one console.
Barely. The PC is almost at 16 million and at the beginning April, so pretty much 3 months ago now, the Xbox 360 Edition passed 12 million.
Since it's been 3 months since then, I'm guessing it's at 13 million or higher. So one platform is close to reaching and surpassing the PC in sales. The Pocket Edition has already surpassed the PC and console versions. Last public sales had it at 16.5 million. So it's sold more than the PC, and any individual console version.
The console will eventually pass the PC version. I'd give it another 2 to 3 months and they'll sail right past the PC version.
Thanks for the information, I was unaware that the Pocket edition was such a big seller.
With over 100 million registered PC users and only around 16 million copies sold does this mean that around 84 million PC users downloaded the game for free?
I haven't played the PC version of Minecraft for a while now and didn't really take too much in on how the account work so I'm just curious how there can be 100 million users but only 16 million sales.

That's simple - Included in the 100 million are people who registered in order to play the demo version. A person has to register for at least the free account in order to play the PC demo.
