I created a dungeon in creative mode. The dungeon i built is solid bedrock - floor all walls and ceiling - so that monsters will not auto spawn inside the dungeon. I use the creative mode inventory to select a monster spawner - i.e. skeleton, zombie, etc - and place monsters throughout the dungeon.
The idea is to save it, reload in survival mode and try to run the dungeon. But the monsters do not save. They are not present in my dungeon. I tried it again while in creative mode, and as soon as I am far away from the area I placed them (out of sight), they despawn.
Any ideas how I can spawn skeletons in creative, save, reload in survival, and the monsters still be there?
When you say you place mob spawners, do you mean spawn eggs? Because the eggs don't work like that. You would have to load some into a dispencer and set a trigger for them to spawn.
Monsters will auto-despawn once all players are 128 blocks away and can randomly despawn within much closer range.
You'll need to place their eggs in dispensers and have it wired up to send them out at the desired time.
