I'm building a village for the villagers near my castle. Some villagers will be in specific stales for trading and others walking around like in a city. So my plan is to transport 2 villagers from a nearby village and breeding them. As they start breeding I will go around the map killing other villagers so I will have all the villagers in one place. So my questions.
1- How many villagers can I have?
2- Can I get all the different types of villagers by breeding two (probably farmers)? note: My village is not like the minecraft villges so they are not the same buildings.
3- I need 3 doors per villager correct?
4- Can I still move villagers with a rail line?
5- How do I get the villager in the minecart? How do I get him out?
6- The villagers I put in stales will give better trades with more trading right?
7- How many Iron Golems will my village spawn once it gets going?
8- How many different types of villagers are there? Priest, Farmer, Blacksmith?
These answers may be incomplete, but to the best of my knowledge:
1. 35 seems to be the limit. I have heard 50, but my cap is stuck at 35 (TU16 world)
2. any villagers may produce any class of villager randomly
3. yes, 3 doors per villager (35% villager-to-door ratio)
4. yes, still move them with rails
5. I have been able to bump them into waiting carts. Carefully pickaxe the cart and he's out.
6. I have not seen any difference in trading, comparing stall-traders with free-range traders
7. IDK - someone else must know. I think the iron golem cap is 15, but not sure.
8. Priest, Farmer, Blacksmith, Butcher & Librarian. Each has a different trade limit/cap. I have seen farmers, blacksmiths & butchers with long strings, and priests and librarians with shorter strings
I would play around with each villager, discovering what they sell and buy and how long their trade strings are. It's great to have a butcher that buys beef and pork, and whose end trade is to sell something useful. So every time you max trade for emeralds, you can buy that one thing and he'll refresh his buys. Some are fairly useless. I say kill 'em, let the mc gods sort 'em out.

I don't think any ron golems will spawn, but idk. The different types of villagers are: Farmer, Preist, librarian, blacksmith, butcher, genetic (unused), baby (All types), and zombie villager.

I had forgotten about them. Can you change them back to regular villagers?
I killed all the farmers in my village and there has not been 1 baby farmer since so im not sure they spawn random. It seems like that if a blacksmith mates with a priest you either get a baby blacksmith or priest. I have bred a whole bunch of villagers and it seems like you only get a baby of whatever type of profession is mating. Yes you can cure zombie villagers with a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple.
Breeding seems to be completely random in my experience. I've had two butchers for a while now and they have produced, farmers and everything else for me. I'm not sure if they are more likely to produce a villager of the same profession, but I have not been overwhelmed with butchers at all. In fact I've been lucky enough to get quite a few librarians.
Trading seems to be completely random as well. A particular villager does not have set trades before you unlock them. It doesn't matter if you put them in a stall or let them roam free. The game will always 'roll the dice' each time you unlock a trade for their profession. For me keeping them in a stall simply helps me keep villagers with good trades safe and dispose of the others quickly.
Villager breeding is random and not based on types being bred. I bred an entire village with 3-4 of each professional all from the pairing of a Librarian and a Butcher.
Trades are profession specific, but there is a field of possible trades for each profession and they don't appear in a specific pattern.

yes you can change zombie villagers back into normal villagers. You have to throw a Splash potion of weakness at them if i recall the correct potion,( yes its a splash potion for sure) and then you need to feed them a golden apple. once you feed them the golden apple, they will begin to shake like crazy and orange particles will appear. It takes about five minues to change the zombie villager back into a normal villager. So be sure to keep this villager in an enclosed area where no other zombies can get at it, and keep in mind that the zombie villager will still die from sunlight while going through the conversion process.

A few tips:
1. Villagers will breed faster in an enclosed place where they can't escape (remove the door from a house, but surround the walls with doors)
2. Trading a villager for its newest trade (the furthest trade to the right on his trade list) will usually unlock a new trade and bring back old trades that it has hidden.
3. Villagers will regen health (5 hearts, indicated by the pink swirls) when you trade their last offer.
4. The green particles mean 'refreshed trades', the pink are regeneration, and the orange are dislike.
5. If you want lots of emeralds, look for farmer villagers. They will accept wool, wheat, chicken or fish for emeralds. You can then sell emeralds to blacksmiths to get diamond gear.

The key to trading, as far as I'm concerned, is the order of the trades. It's better when a farmer who buys your wheat sells you something you actually need later down the trade list. I sell lots of wheat, beef & pork and often need to 'refresh' the trades. I hate buying leather stuff just to sell what I've got. I'll buy or sell anything to unlock the trades, but after that...
I've had bad luck with librarians. I like to sell books, but they always have a clock to the right that ends the trading. And buying them doesn't usually unlock anything (short trade lists). I've heard they sell enchanted books, but I haven't seen any yet. I'll keep trying.
Does anyone else have more than 35 villagers in their world? Is that the latest cap?

Librarians do sell enchanted books (some of them at least). I have one that sells a feather falling 3 for 22 emeralds and one that sells fortune 3 for 12 emeralds (which seems like a good deal to me).

i find the items you guys sell to the villagers interesting. I don't know if i am just lucky but in my current world i have about three maybe more librarians who offer emeralds for like 24 pieces of paper. This is pretty covenient considering sugar cane can be grown quite fast and easily, not to mention you can grow a ton at a single time without being established on the map.
Just a thought for those who may not have considered going into the sugar cane business =-)

thanks for the quick reply.
TU-16 was our last update.

Oops. Anyway, yes! First, give them a splash potion of weakness, then, give them a golden apple, and in a bit, they will turn to normal!!

There is orange on the 360? Never seen it.

When you hit a villager, its gives off these orange and black fire-smoke particles

Never noticed it. I dont hit the villagers unless i see them dying in a wall lol
