Not sure what i'm doing wrong but I seem unable to plant a mushroom on the ground. I'm sure I used to just place it with left trigger but been trying for ages on different surfaces and in different lighting conditions with no success. Are we no longer able to plant mushrooms?
Are you trying outside or underground? Mushrooms, now, can only be planted on grass or dirt blocks that would not eventually have a high light level. Meaning you can try at night out in the open but the game won't let you because that spot will eventually see daylight. It has to be a spot that will never see a high light level. Mycelium of course doesn't matter.
Mushrooms take an extremely long time to spread. Also, mushrooms will stop spreading once there are 4 or 5 (can't remember which) of the same mushroom type within a 9x9 square centered around the mushroom trying to spread
