What types of PvP worlds have you seen get successful and how do you think certain types of objectives or features in those worlds cause them to work so well. Whether it be good moderation/hosting, certain types of game-types, etc?
I started typing out a long post about PvP worlds for this very reason. I have been experimenting with different types of worlds to see what works and what doesn't.
I like two types of PVP worlds. Both are hard survival on random seeds. One type is the blind start where gamer tags are off, no one has explored the map, bedrock fog is on, etc. Everyone starts from punching wood at the same time.
Another type is where someone has gone into creative mode and made a bunch of stuff all over the map to explore, traps that kill, various supplies, rail lines between towns, etc.
The best one's I've seen that last the longest are ones with 3-4 people in one of two factions.
Two servers in which I've played had a story, a few structures, a story, and two sides.
One lasted until people lost interest and the other went all the way until the end where one side won.
Also, calling in PvP instead of Hunger Games is a great idea.
