Hello Minecraftforum, today im going to tell you why im not going to purchase minecraft for the xbox one.
Minecraft obviously is a good game but why should xbox one and ps4 users have to pay £50 for next-gen when yet the PC version + Current gen versions dont cost that together.
some of you might be thinking, "its got a bigger world and runs faster" so, if i wanted to have a bigger world and make it run faster i would rather spend that £50 on upgrading my computer (not that i need to). the worst part about it is that you wont be able to get mods on the Next gen so whats the point. pc has all of that, and if some people actually just go and buy the xbox one for minecraft why dont you just buy a good computer with that £450+?
In Theory the only thing that were getting out of it is a game with "bigger worlds" and "world transfers". otherwise i think in my personal opinion that mojang are just being greedy! when minecraft first came out for both pc and xbox360 (Later on the ps3) they didnt cost £50, ive had minecraft PC since 1.1. i think it is absolutely shocking and that the price should be reduced. im pretty sure most people cant just pull £50 out of there wallets can they? unless you rich.
Thats my personal opinion and what i feel about it, Whats yours? i would love to hear feedback!
Is that price in line with the cost of games like Call Of Duty? If I get an xbox one or PS4 minecraft will probably be a significant factor. Right now I have no plans to buy either wish there was a better choice.
4j has said that you will get a discount on Minecraft on the One if you have it on the 360t. And its not 4j's fault for having to charge that much, its just the price for XB1 games. If you don't like it, just wait a month and buy it used.
Money is not a factor for me so I won't even hesitate when Minecraft One Edition is released however I completely understand your point of view.
My opinion is that Minecraft is worth just as much as any game released on Xbox One due to the amount of hours you'll get out of it.
If anything I find the PC, 360 and PS3 versions relatively cheap for what the game includes and should be priced a bit higher if we are comparing it to other games that retail for $100 and have 10 - 20 hours game play.
Personally for me, I have gotten so much enjoyment out of Minecraft that paying 50$ or more isn't that big a deal. Very few other games comes close to the amount of countless hours I have into this game. However I don't yet own a Xbox one, don't want a PS4 (as i feel sony is a big lying piece of crap company that doesn't deserve my money, but that's just my opinion). Right now thers just no reason for me to go next gen, lack of games that 'interest me', and no backwards compatibility really put me off going next gen.
That said, when I do go next gen, Minecraft will defiantly be one of the first games I attain.
So you have proof from 4J, Microsoft, and Mojang that the official price is $60 USD? I haven't seen any official announcement of the price yet. Seeing as how places like GameStop, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc, etc use $60 as the placeholder price when the game actual price is unknown, that's all you're seeing.
I'm betting that if the price goes up for next gen, it'll be $30 or $26.95 like the PC version.
I agree with that OP that I find it strange that the XB1 version would cost more then double the 360 version. However on the other hand (Mojang/4J, please don't take advantage of this) I think the game is easily worth the $60 that consoles currently charge for their full title releases.
Also, OP where have you seen the price for MC on XB1 confirmed?
I hear what you're saying, OP, but I suspect that you'll end up getting it eventually anyway. Eventually you'll have to get one of the new systems (if not for MC, for all the other games you can play on it), so a game to play on it is a drop in the bucket.
To echo several of you above, I've gotten more than my fair share of entertainment out of my $20 investment. I figure I paid about a penny for an hour of fun. Find that somewhere -- anywhere -- else.
I see the point about the PC version, and if you're into mods & unlimited maps, etc. I say go for it. I prefer the easy workings of the console, and frankly, even the limits. No gamer will ever singlehandedly explore every inch of the "limited" map on the 360. Sure, I got a little bummed when I realized I would probably never find another abandoned mineshaft in my world. But then I found two new chasms.
My only concern with the 360 is what has been better said by others, that sooner or later technical support for the 360 version will wane and then disappear completely. The question is whether I will wait that long to make the switch. If the Xbone version is that much better, maybe I should suck it up and buy the system and game and move on. Til then...

So OP is making a rage post based on a "placeholder" on some website? Just an ounce of common sense would tell you that it won't cost that much. I mean come on... at least make an attempt to do an ounce of research yourself. I even helped by posting this link in another thread 11 days ago...
Who's to say that there won't be mods for Minecraft on Xbox ONE or PS4, either? Both use PC architecture. I think too many people on this forum take the word "mod", read it, and don't consider it's definition in the terms of service. Essentially we, the end users, are not allowed to modify or alter our console or the software installed on it. Simply put, they don't want us to compromise the system or create a new exploit that may affect others and their experience. However a mod, created by someone in the PC community, could in theory be given to 4J Studios... and recoded to work on the console and provided to us as an expansion pack or some sort of DLC. It would then be 4J Studio's responsibility to make sure the coding has no exploit that could be used to breach the security of the network or system.
I have the PC version. I bought it for my niece... and I'll tell you this. In my experience, many of those "mods" come with malware/spyware. As someone that had a few contracts removing malware/spyware, I can tell you that many Minecraft players don't even realize how horribly infected their PCs have become. Whether it's packaged in the "downloader" or zipped up in the installation files, it's all the same horrible crap.
Consoles may not give you as many options as PC, but I take comfort in knowing that anything my niece downloads on the console will not compromise the system or it's security.
The price of the game doesn't bother me as much as the price of the console. $500 or $400 without the Kinect is too steep a price for a non necessity purchase.
Yes. That was my point. The price of the one will have to decrease substantialy before I consider purchasing it, which makes the price of the games a moot issue.
I'll be holding off on buying Minecraft for Xbone for a bit... Mainly because of the Xbone itself. Currently the game library isn't large enough and only has a few games that interest me. I'm not too keen on buying a system for a single game.
As the system matures, I'll likely buy one. But for now it's more likely I'll be saving the money that I would spend on next-gen. There's just not enough content that justifies a whole new console just yet.
Plus, it's likely I'll play more PC before then.. Playing Minecraft in my living room is really nice, but in the end I like to explore and not be constrained. Map size on console is ok, adequate for what it is, but if given a choice I'd like more options. There's also the buttloads of features and content.
Don't get me wrong, I really love xbox minecraft. It's awesome. But next-gen at the moment doesn't have enough 'carrots' for me versus simply just saving and waiting for a better PC for better fps.
The biggest thing right now is being able to play Minecraft with my kid and we do just fine on 360 at the moment.
Well I've had this game since release and never been able to play with 4 or more people without having horrible lag. That being said if the Xbox1 runs smoothly with more players and bigger maps I'd consider it. I see a lot of "community" servers on the forums here but to me there's no point simply because the lag which is unfortunate because I'd really like to play on them.
