I have been trying the enchanting stuff in hard survival and this is what I have found. Is everyone else getting the same stuff?
I have enchanted maybe 60 of books.
1- you can only get 1 enchantment on a book
2- if you enchant a book with level 1 xp you still have to spend a couple more levels to transfer it to a tool or armor so it's usually better to directly enchant with low xp
3- Some enchantments I get a lot of like efficiency while others I have not gotten yet like unbreaking
4- enchanted books don't stack
5- for a diamond pick I have been enchanting it directly first because I can get multiple enchantments then I'll add enchantments from books as needed.
Has anyone done the tool repair on anvils? If so how do you like it.
Has anyone used priest to enchant stuff?
Some enchantments on books that I love getter are respiration 3. That was always an enchantment that was hard to get but I have 3 books with it now. Lot easier to work underwater.
1 you have spare XP and dont want to waste XP if you die
2 you want to find a specific enchant for a tool, saves wasting alot of diamond tools/armor trying to find that enchantment...
it will always be more costly enchanting this way as your getting pretty much what you want
I only repair my named diamond picks, lv 39 for Silky (Silk I - Eff IV - Unb III pick) and lv 32 for Butterfinger (Fort III - Eff IV - Unb III pick)
Other tools and armor I just save then make them with a lv 30 enchant and if I don't get a good one, I reload the game and try again. I usually play solo but I want to play multiplayer soon.
I don't waste my time on doing this most of the time since it seems like a waste.
The most I've done is one Sharpness IV and one Power IV book, both of which I put on my already-IV weapons.
I have gotten maybe one or two Unbreaking IIIs and only one Thorns (at level I, too) over the course of hundreds of books in Creative....
Something else you can do, is to take 2 damaged, unenchanted bows (Or any tool with durability) and combine them to repair them. You don't even need an anvil. Just open your inventory (You can do this when you have a chest open), pick up one tool, drag it above the other and press x (If nothing happens, try pressing x a few times). The two tools will combine, and you will get a new or slightly used too. No need to use an anvil and waste levels!
For Bows, personally restrict the enchantments a little.. It's one of those items you can't repair a little bit at a time. Like a diamond tools when adding a single diamond. It looks like a power V, flame I , infinity is a good spot. Just can't let it get too beat up or it gets too expensive to repair in survival.

True that. My favorite bow is Power IV/Infinity. It gives you the vitals without adding too much to the repair cost. Same goes for swords. Give me a Sharpness IV/Looting III diamond sword and I'm good to go. Lasts a long time, and repairing is not too costly.

Can you repair/fix a bow?

Stay fluffy~
Thanks I have a 'Dragon Slayer' bow with 4 top enchantments that I want to keep. Nice to have a one shoot creeper killer.
Quote my post so I can reply to it.
