Well it is more than just skins. I'm kind of hoping for texture packs to come separately outside of mash-up packs too though, since its almost sounding like they're only in mash-up packs. Not that I'd buy them outside of mash-up packs, but there are people like you who might only want the texture pack part and may not want to pay for the rest.
yes ecatly thanks for understanding i dont care for their music since i have it at 0 same with sound. i listen to my own music. themes i dont care for, skins are no longer a new thing, but texture packs... i have been waiting since TU7 to see texture packs
I'm almost positive there will be texture packs separate from mash-up packs. When they first mentioned the mash-up packs, they said they were "making sure that Texture Packs and Mash-up Packs work properly" with TU12. They also mentioned that the "first 'texture pack' will actually be a Mash-up Pack." The way they said these suggests we'll get both, as I think they could have easily just said "All texture packs will be part of Mash-up Packs." But I don't know, that's just the way I see it.
That really is depressing that it's coming to all playstation titles, 4J already has enough work with ONE console. I don't think that was a good move, but ehh more money! Anyways.... TU12 in 8th day in cert testing, something's gotta give.
Two things:
1. I highly doubt 4j would have agreed to take on all of these new versions of the game if they knew they couldn't handle it. Basic economics says that a company will expand as much as necessary to get work done as efficiently as possible. If a grocery store constantly has long lines at the checkout lanes, they will hire more cashiers, as it's in their own best interest. The lines will go down, and they make more money. I can't imagine 4j wouldn't do something similar.
2. I'd expect TU12 to take the full 10 business days in Cert testing, as I think (as far as I remember) all feature updates (TU3, TU5, TU7, TU9) have taken that long. That would put us at around Thursday for getting out, and Friday for a release (unless they decide to release it the following week for some odd reason).
The system architecture is simular, both using x86 systems to run, but i haven't heard anything about the coding being similar, do you have any links to that effect, i'd like to take a look. Been watching both closely, and wouldn't mind reading about the coding on them both besides the little tidbits ive already seen.
Actually I think I'm wrong about the coding, my bad. I misread an articule.
I find the music helpful when spending alot of time underground, it changes at the 12th hour so you know when nightfall is coming and can throw down a bed and rest to change the spawn point, so you don't have as far to run to pick up all your stuff if a creeper sneaks up behind you or worse (I've had it happen, just yesterday as a matter of fact) a creeper spawns in right behind you or just above you and you don't even get a chance to defend or run away.
Edit in: correction, every 6 world hours it changes, morning, noon, midnight, and middle of night.
ive never heard of that before but then again i wouldnt know since i dont have music on

MC being on Playstation 4 is HUGE. Between the higher price, the always on Kinect crap, and the waffling about the always online requirement, Minecraft being a Microsoft Console exclusive was one of the only reasons I was set on buying an XB1. If the PS4 version is comparable to the XB1 version, it may tip it in favor of the PS4.
4 or 5 weeks ago, some follower on 4Js twitter feed kept throwing out the date of 8/26. It was the classic, "I have insider info because my brother / best friend / cousin / nephew / insert whaterver works at 4J." line, complete with the ensuing flame fest. At the time, I just chalked it up to it being some troll, but as the day gets closer and closer, I'm beginning to wonder. I mean, I just KNEW it would be out before then, right?
Hopefully, this week is going to end on a little bright note - if not, maybe the troll spoketh the truth?

Not true, because not even 4J knows when the update will get out of cert testing. It's currently out of their reach.

If it's right, it would be just a really good guess. And the way I look at it, it is entirely possible that it could be that day... but it's also entirely possible that it could be another day. The 10 business days usually required for Cert testing an update like this is up on Thursday. Updates are usually scheduled for the next business day, but, as TU9 showed, that's not always the case (for that update there was a delay of several days after it was out of Cert testing). This points to Friday (8/23) as a possible date, but should the Xbox Live team decide to release it later (by the way, they are in charge of when the update is sent out, NOT 4j. They hinted to that in a tweet when TU9 came out), then the next likely date would be Monday (8/26).
But as for having inside information because their relative works at 4j, that is completely false. 4j has as much control over the release date of their updates as you have over how long a mechanic works on your car.

Every one is worrying about the date but what do you want an update out right now but absoulutly sucks or an update that will come out within a week but great quality. Think about it and then complain and argue.*absolutely

I hope you're joking. They removed the "always on kinect crap", Do you realize you have to be on ALL THE TIME on xbox and ps3 when you play multiplayer? They removed the online requirement for singleplayer. PS4 is nothing like xbox 1.. PS4 doesn't even have new features. It's like call of duty, every year. Atleast Xbox comes out with cool features like TV on Xbox, Bigger and better servers (300k), PS4 will save you the WHOLE $100 OMG, how will you ever live? Xbox is better in all ways. The controllers, the game exclusives, almost invincible security (Sony, your just awful.), Bigger community.

Minecraft is about fun not arguing and criticizing others about their opinions. If they want to believe there is zombie villagers let them believe. What if they add them as a surprise because that and trading is the most wanted things that is not in the change log (not saying they will be implemented because I can already see the posts from Snyder or others about me saying they are in the update) but maybe it wasn't in the livestream or the change log because they aren't in the update or a surprise. Wouldn't be the first time they did it. It keeps the game fresh and interesting making you excited for the next update. It is a business strategy that is used a lot.

I'm guessing more level headed people will stay, while all the squeakers and griefers will go over to PS4. I honestly believe that the future of Xbox LIVE just got better, thanks to Sony. I get tired of reporting kids... let Sony deal with them now.

What a funny joke, there's always going to be griefers on all systems, not sure what the Vita version is. MC XBLA the griefers didn't migrate from the PC version to it, and there was new griefers. As long as people can ruin the Minecraft experience expect them wherever there's Minecraft. Both the PSN, and XBL have children who are immature(source: I own both)

Maybe you're not getting what I'm saying. When the next gen consoles come out, most of the kids got mad at Xbox. In most cases, they're gonna migrate to PS4... as will most parents who are penny pinching... or adults that are afraid they're gonna get caught slappin the salami while they have Kinect on. That's gonna reduce the number of squeakers and griefers across all games, not just Minecraft. Sure there will still be griefing to some extent, but overall the experience should improve.

i agree with you fully except on one point the ps4 will also have some of the cool new features the xbone will have. mainly the in game video cap, though it seems much less polished on the ps4. other than that im right there with you.
i really cant believe the flame wars between minecraft on other consoles has already started. i mean it hasent even been ported to the ps3 or vita yet and the xbone and ps4 arent even out yet. very likely they will be identical, but i guess the flame wars will go on either way.

doubtful. it will probably pan out and be just about even. i think when the xbone comes out most of the people whining about its features will see they were in fact wrong and buy it. or buy it just because they feel they have to. consumers are good at what they do. and who knows there is so much misinformation going around about the consoles there may even be more whining kids on xbl, the problem i there are so many gamers you wouldn't even notice if say a million people up and quit playing xbox. you'd still feel like there are to many whiners and griefers.

Guys seriously? This thread is supposed to be about the title updates, please take your ing match over to a new thread instead of filling this one with the console wars.
Flame/Console wars will not be tolerated. Right now the conversation is turning for the worse. Please use this thread to discuss Minecraft Xbox360 Edition updates and 4J tweets about it.

That guy (If the update does come out on 8/26) will have gotten extremely lucky, that is all.
Coming from a guy who's generally very patient, I must say that this week I've been surprisingly anxious continuing to wait for the update. Let me preface this by saying I'm not complaining and I certainly know there's nothing I can do to make it come faster; I'm just sharing my feelings about the wait. It just feels like time has been ticking by soooo slowly. My rational mind obviously knows better, but the longer it's taking to hear anything about it, the more it feels like an abstract idea than something that's really coming.
I've literally been checking their twitter feed every few hours hoping to hear it has cleared cert. I'm holding out hope for Friday, but if there's still no news by then, I can't help but feel a little suspicion that they may have withheld the update because of the (possible) aforementioned building height bug seen in the playxbla live stream and quickly fixed and resubmitted it without telling anyone about it. Considering the flack that they would take from the community for letting a bug that significant slip through testing, I would not put it past them to fix and swap it in secret, nor would I hold it against them. They are not obligated to tell us anything so we wouldn't necessarily ever find out if that did happen.
Or everything's fine and it's just taking a while. No way to know. So I'll just continue to wait...
