I'd like to point ou that 4J just posted that they will let us know when TU12 will be out of cert testing. (The exact same thing they posted last week.)
Take that for what you will.
That probably means they were getting scores of "When is the update coming out" tweets.

However, like it was stated again earlier. They said the same thing on Friday. The update will probably be out Friday if it passes. I doubt MS will make us wait much longer. Considering Thursday will be the 10th Business day of Cert. I could be wrong, but I hope we don't have to wait much longer.

Isnt Microsoft the king of delays? Speaking from personal experience with their own software, and delayed patches as well as within days of eachother "heres a patch to correct what the last patch was meant to."

I can't wait for the update.... I hope it out before september 17

Keep in mind the 10 day deadline is a guideline for MS and definitely not a hard deadline.

Probably more on the lines of "You said you'd tell me and I've waited long enough so tell me it's coming out of Cert testing". Probably the same people who think that everyone has already agreed on a release date and it's being kept top secret from everybody else until the time is right.

why such a specific date if i may ask

I feel like there are an inordinate amount of people who don't realize that the updates aren't planned. It baffles me how people believe that, just because 4J codes the game, that they know and control everything...(Or Mojang, because people still think that they're the ones that code the Xbox edition...)

Wow these updates takes awhile haha ,but it's fine as long as good stuff are being put into it I'm fine But in my state the colleges and schools already started so we prepared to come home to a nice TU12
Like I said, you're affected by Minecraft-Time. Do you think they just sit down and start randomly coding, from a grab-bag of potential features, with no deadlines or windows to aim for? Nonsense. In 2012 the updates came monthly, with one notable exception being TU5 which took two months due to the scope of it. Bug patch followed feature update. It was routine and regular. I predicted that they would sneak out a secret update before Christmas to help promote the game for Christmas Day Sales and that's exactly what happened, on December 19 they released a feature update with no warning as a surprise and on Christmas day it sold gangbusters.
Nothing much has changed this year, except the disc release affecting TU9 deadlines and the subsequent rush leading to major bug problems. Which were addressed. I restate that the experience probably led them to combine feature and bug updates into one, hence this longer wait. (not to mention the complexity of rebalancing the whole game performance wise to make double-build-height work properly. Changing the file format probably wasn't a walk in the park.)
What you see as "unplanned" or "loosely planned" is just your own impatience and inabilty to see how things might be working from their side. Having a deadline move by weeks is just a totally normal and understandable part of this kind of development, but to us it feels like ages because we are desperate junkies for new-better-more.
Precisely, Couldn't of been said better then that.
I've dropped enough hints elsewhere so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone; I play heavily in software development (no, I am not associated with 4J, Mojang, or M$); rather, I'm director of research of a major NGO. We are building and deploying apps all the time for our membership and I'm involved b/c most of the apps relate to data management and collection.
How does this relate? I can't tell you the number of development builds I have seen go off the rails. In fact, Ive never seen a single deployment meet schedule. I think this is what Mustache meant when he said "loosely" planned. You set a production schedule, but, if your honest, you know the minute you write it down it's obsolete.
Take TU12, did 4J have TU12 planned? of course! Did 4Js plans CALL for TU12 take x number of months? PROBABLY - they know what they need to add and (if they're good) how many coding hours it will take. Did their plans included the possibilty that TU12 would take extra time due to unforeseen bugs? SURE. Do they know exactly, to the day, when TU12 will be done and have cleared cert? Nope.
that's what "loosely" planned means.

Forum AdminOddly enough, that's my birthday. I'm sincerely hoping it'll be out before then.
3 Words...Grand Theft Auto.
