Combining this mash-up pack announcement with the announcement by Microsoft that they plan to really open up the Xbox One to self-publishing, I think the dam just broke and the whole ballgame about what may be possible for Minecraft on the Xbox 360 just changed completely. If Microsoft is making self-publishing easier on the One, then I really can't see them holding out for too long on allowing some similar possibilities on the older and closer to being obsolete Xbox 360.

Mash Up Packs look interesting. Let me see if I get this straight. Having waited for upside down halfslabs and stairs since the game came out, I need to wait longer so people can pay to pretend they are not playing Minecraft?

4j should release more achievements for mcxbla. kill the ender dragon would be a good one. it would give me more drive to go to the end, and then they should make a tame ocelots one, like the tame 5 wolves achievement. I cant think of anymore but im sure there are many possibilities.

it wont work from what ive heard arcade games can only have 200 gp meaning they already hit that with their achievements so they cant put more

yea. its more of a built in part of the way xbl works. something about how acheivments are integrated into the games code meaning only dlc can add them and not updates. their changing that with the ONE though.
soo. mashup packs are like texture packs.. on steroids. and venom... while drinking monster energy drink.. got it..
wonder if the physics engine and interface will be changed beyond graphics. like change the way players move. interact with the world. give blocks gravity/physics things of that nature. possibly theme based blocks/ entities as well.. guns, new mechanisms. things like that. either way. sounds cool.
this is definetly the first major step towards separating the pc and xbox version. hopefully it doesnt feel bogged down with the new stuff and it still feels like minecraft... just shinier.
it also sounds like the first step to the xbox "mods" everyones been wanting. depending on how much of the actual gameplay is changed.

I added three new tweets to the list on the front page. Pretty much they're still bug fixing. They are making sure Texture Packs and Mash Up packs work with the update, and Mash Up packs are like "Themes" with textures, sounds, music, and skins.

I don't think they will actually make maps though. It would be awesome, but I think it's just going to be a more advanced texture pack and we just create / load our worlds with it.

Based off the characters in their skin packs, I'm hoping for Borderlands and Perfect Dark mash-ups. Hoping mostly for Borderlands, but I'm a pretty big Perfect Dark fan as well, so . . .
