I knew about the 2 a month one... not that I am sure I will be able to get any of them, that all depends on which months I have live gold. Unsure what to make of assassin's creed searies, but worth checking out. Not really all that fond of Halo much, but still an ok buy. The story for me is better than the multiplayer in the latter one. Would be the only reason to get that one, or at least get it on my hard drive.
They might continue for a while, which is good enough for me... All I ever wanted in game is pretty much in the next update, or at least what I have seen in the photo. That and auto-arrange stairs... Beyond that anything else is just added material.
Since I play both pc and xbox versions (primarily single player on pc, due to limitations of my laptop) I will have a both worlds to explore for a long time yet, even after they stop updating the xbox version.:D
After all, like I mentioned before I usually keep my old systems, and never really trade them in since I like play a variety of older games on them on occasion.:)
I've played one of the Assassin's Creed games (can't remember which one exactly) and it was pretty fun. It was different than what I was used to playing. Halo 3 is a must for me. I loved everything about it when I owned it, and will be glad to own it again. Halo 4 was more for the story, for me.
To be honest, I'm not part of the hordes of people begging for updates. I'm quite content with what we have now. I'm mostly curious about how long they go because I'm interested in seeing how the 360 edition changes compared to the PC (and later) Xbox One versions. Kind of excited about the build increase, and jungle cats though.
I only own a 360 and a Wii, and won't be getting a new system any time soon, but I can definitely understand why a person would keep an older system (especially this generation's - so many games!).

Because people aren't happy with MicroSoft concerning the following:
Fees concerning used games and trading games with friends.
Design of the console.
Internet verification every 24 hours.
The price of the console.
No backwards compatibility.
Just to clarify, Microsoft(Just like Sony) are not going to add fees to used games, they will allow developers to do so if they chose to.
The PS4 looks VERY similar to the Xbox One so design is moot.
Internet verification is designed to function on a slow connection(1.5Mbps, World average is 2.69Mbps) and even has a designated band that will function on mobile networks.
The Price is not much different( with the move and a year of PS+) The Xbox one allows every Gamertag on the console to have Live as long as one profile has live( thus making Live MUCH cheaper than PS+ if you have others that play on your console.
Backwards compatibility is only useful in the first few years of a new console, after those first few years when the previous gen is slowly phased out the backwards compatibility becomes less and less important. Most people no longer play Xbox or PS2 games...There is a reason that PS3 stopped backwards compatibility. It is a waste of resources in the long run.
I honestly think people are overreacting about the Xbox One. I admit most of these things sound terrible but if you read into them, I personally agree with most of it.
The whole used games and trading games with friends things may sound terrible, but it's more complicated than that. Disc based games are basically pointless because you only use the disc once to install it to your hard drive and then play it without the disc. You are buying the license to play the game which is tied to your account, so if you just give it to a friend they can't do anything with it. This also makes used game sales more complicated.
The internet verification to my knowledge is designed to combat piracy and modded consoles. I knew someone who bragged about having a modded 360 which he could use to get games for free even before they were released and give free Microsoft points to people. If this new check-in system brings an end to things like that, I will be happy.
I don't know if any of you watch The Game Station on Youtube, but while covering E3 they were told by multiple journalists that the PS4 was most likely the same price as the Xbox One but they changed it at the last minute. So the price is pretty much irrelevant. However, since the Kinect is included with the Xbox one, the price balances out.
I think the main thing to consider is that Major Nelson said that Xbox would work with publishers to do what they want with DRM and used games. If this is true and enough publishers say they don't want 24 hour check-ins or restrictions on used games, these policies might disappear. The Xbox One wont be out until November and these policies are not set in stone so things could change, just wait and see.
Sure, on paper the PS4 is more powerful, but since the Xbox One uses the cloud to do a large portion of the processing it destroys the PS4. It's not even a contest!
The PS4 looks VERY similar to the Xbox One so design is moot.
Have you actually even seen the design of the PS4 in relation to the XB1. I have. They look nothing alike. The PS4 has a trapezoid design, whereas the XB1 looks like a freaking VHS deck.

WIP 128x 64x, SEUS support, Mod support in the pipeline TEKKIT, FTB, the more support the more mods!

There's also more factors in the graphics card besides whats more powerful. Even without the cloud, the PS4 doesn't blow it away.
And yes there are NO used game fees. I wish that rumor would stop spreading.

"Only the trees which you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, to build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it is subdued." (Deuteronomy 20:20 NKJV)
"Rather than requiring Xbox One users to have the device always connected to the Internet, Microsoft explained, the console will conduct an online check once every 24 hours in order to ensure that the user still owns the license for the copy of the game they are playing. Users will also be able to access their Xbox One content remotely through, say, a friend's console, but in that case online checks would be performed every hour."
So, they basically want to make sure that you own the game you are playing? Sounds perfectly reasonable to me! Since the Xbox One is going to be purely digital (disc based games are only used to install to your hard drive faster and then they are useless) things like this need to happen. This also sounds a little like anti-piracy like I said before because it can make sure you didn't illegally download your games.
3rd party publishers can apparently control whether or not their titles have DRM and used game sale restrictions on the PS4. So when Sony said these things wouldn't happen and "nothing will change", they pretty much lied. I would rather have Microsoft come right out and admit to these things instead of Sony only telling half truths.

I wish people would realize not everyone can get good broadband speeds. Ive lived in my house for 15 years and still can only get supplied with 0.5m broadband. I will always need a disk.
Wow, that was some about-turn from Microsoft! If you haven't see yet, they dropped the online checks and confusing game-sharing, and now it's just disc-in-drive to authenticate, like it currently is and like PS4 is.
Now we just need them to release a $399 version without Kinect.
Dammit! I had a good excuse for not buying one up until now.....
ubergine made a great point, if they can reverse major things like DRM, maybe they can reverse the Kinect requirement as well!
they don't require you to have it on. just to be part of the console peripherals since they are pushing for developers to really explore and develop around the technology they dropped millions to develop. it'd be like developers designing games for the wii and having 90% of them developed around using the classic nes style controller. but its been said numerous times u can just cut the kinect off whenever you want.
I understand that but if people are so against using it and paranoid about it "spying on you", maybe Microsoft will change that policy as well. Even though game quality will most likely suffer as a result of not everyone having a Kinect.

Either there's some huge distortion on the screenshot, or I'm seeing vertical slabs and quarter blocks. Here's the original pic, clearly mean to focus on the corner stairs on the building. But look at that archway, and the wwall leaning up to it...
Edit: after looking it over more, it really is just distortion.
