The updates have come out on Friday's occasionally in the past. Whether Microsoft have a clever reason for it or its just a series of coin flips no one really knows. Few care I imagine. Maybe M$ looked at it and went "we're gonna test this for four more days, so tell 'em it's out Friday."
Or maybe they didn't want the content update to steal oxygen from the early-week DLC content, figuring that if people have a pile of all new Minecraft content to explore for free they might not pay for content from other games that came out on Tues or Wed.
This actually makes a lot of sense. DLC that costs money probably does make a presidence over free DLC. You're a smart dude.
Really stoked about getting an update (especially a terrain gen update with it... maps are a lil ugly. Lol) Now I am wondering where the wishlist for next update is. Wanting to put something like marble down because that stuff is pretty niffty with looks on PC.
The livestream made the end seem much more awesome than the PC. His flight pattern is awesome and he shoots ender fireballs.+Cages+Ender Acid makes for a much more epic enderdragon fight!
Well, with 1.5.1 you should definitely get the PC version too. There is so much more you can do on it. I like the gigantic worlds that generate on PC, but that is one of the main reasons I enjoy the Xbox edition. The smaller, limited worlds.
I would also like to see ender chests on Xbox soon. I usually keep griefers/griefing to a minimum, but the assurance of my items still existing after my chest gets destoyed would be amazing. Plus, the transport factor is nice.

i dont wanna be that person but this was a horrible update. i cant even go in the nether because the xbox get 5 frames per second. the only good thing in the update was spawn eggs and picture frames. what this update really brought was bugs. its the bug update

I fought and killed the enderdragon in one of my survival worlds. It's an interesting addition and The End looks like a great place for a freaky castle of some kind. I'd use the egg as the centerpiece of some kind of temple I think, perhaps the cathedral I am building. I didn't save the game though so I can show guests the dragon.
But the core of the game is simple building, and it's ironic that after all this effort to bring us The End, I'd have much preferred upside-down slabs and staircases.
What's so much more important though is simple stability. It made me realise what a stable and full-featured iteration of the game TU8 is. Luckily for me, I still have it, on my other Xbox! Most people won't be so lucky though...

I'm glad I loaded the TU on secondary USB stick as well. Nice having the option to switch between them.
Just as funny little note. If you load a world on TU9, go to the end, then save. Exit the game, change USB so you have TU8 instead of TU9, then load that game offline, it will respawn you in the overworld with a completely new seed. Your old seed and everything done on that overworld will vanish. Being the type who likes/does test things I had to try that. Surprised it worked at all. Kudos for handling it gracefully. Slight down marks for not sending to the original overworld and instead spawning a whole new one.
The graceful handling shows TU8 as capable of handling and passing TCR # 049 (STR). Whereas the bugs for non-live and Silver users on TU9 fail even the first of the BASIC requirements TCR # 001 (BAS).
Future Suggestion: (example TU10 trying to load a TU11 world as you can't change old TUs obviously)
I will suggest for future updates the TU should either choose not to load or give warning with a messsage the world/save was created on a newer version than the one attempting to load it. I would also suggest future TUs should gracefully handle loading such a save/world, if you choose to allow such, without destroying the existing overworld, or should say the world cannot be loaded.
I didn't find it hard but I was hugely prepared on that world. If you consider that "beating the ender dragon" really involves:
Getting weapons and armour, enchanted preferably.
Getting enchantment table then.
Going to nether, getting blaze powder and potion stuff.
Killing a heap of endermen to get ender pearls.
Finding then conquering stronghold.
- you can kind of count that as part of the boss fight!
But for the event itself, I played on hard, had level 30 enchanted diamond everything and a fine bow, potions, and one stack of obsidian and grabbed some end stone.
I didn't actually realise that the dragon can destroy other blocks but not obsidian and end stone, so that was lucky for me.
Hard part was climbing up onto highest pillars to destroy the healing crystals. The lower ones can be beaten easily enough with a bow but I found I needed to be higher for the last four or five and the highest two have a cage around them so you need to climb up.
The dragon can push you off your stack of stone as you go up it turns out!
Once the crystals are gone though, it becomes a simple matter of moving aside from the dragons attacks and waiting for it to fly back to the exit portal so it is in range, then fire arrows as quickly as possible. Worth having a strength potion and regen and healing potions.
Probably the endermen are the bigger hazard really, it's hard to not accidently look at them because there are so many. A friend made an amusing game of looking at them all and "collecting" them as he ran around, until he seemed to have 20-30 endermen chasing him around.
I didn't find the fight very hard but it takes some time and was fun enough. I think for younger players it might be quite challenging (?).
As to my earlier comments about the terrain generation changing for the worse, basically, a new generation of my previous good seeds were quite bad (might bother taking pics to show how) but I started rolling seeds from scratch and quite liked one that I found (the Amber Spyglass) which I just made a seed thread about.
Also, I forgot what an utter embuggerance it was when TU5 made pasive mobs ultra-rare and I couldn't make a bed for weeks in game. Was that worse than the lighting bug? Probably not, but my impotent rage was far greater.
alright i will prepare with daimond stuff like you. and i actually hate the lighting bug more then no animals because almost any block i brake now turn 100% black and if i go near it my person turns into a silhouette. plus i feel as if i will die in there because i cant place torches because it doesnt help at all. so a mob can kill me instantly. or if there is no mobs i can just fall strait in a hole from how dark it is

there is also a bug where you cannot brake ladders. and you cant place ladders in front of a dispenser like before.

The only thing I've come across is 4J saying it went into testing yesterday on their twitter, where did you hear that it would be out so quickly?
i saw them say it was in testing on the 9th and on the forums it said april 13 was TU10 bug update. well its the 13 and i have not seen the lighting glitch anymore and i played in my world for 2 hours and no lighting glitches. just to make sure it worked i tried to make the lighting glitch and it still didnt work. so im sure it was today. one thing i still noticed was in the nether the xbox freezes up a bit

I'm guessing someone simply, as I've been prone to do, glanced or misread the date on the op of this topic and saw the 13 that means the year rather than day, used that as a reference and didn't check up on the information more. I have been checking off and on about the update as where I've been playing on my map it seems to correlate the lighting issue with lava patches but haven't been really interested in playing more to find out otherwise. Lol, I know it's lazy and uninspired but there's definitely a plethora of other games I have on hand to keep my interest until the fix is released (not to mention the pc version, yeah?).
oh yeah i went through their tweets again and it looks like i misread it. i have just been very lucky not to get the lighting glitch
