I decided to join a few PvP sessions and be the second-least fun kind of person by just standing in place, doing and saying nothing. Surprisingly, I lasted a very long time doing nothing. I may try for one of those "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" medals.
Good gosh, the lag is ridiculous to the point where I couldn't justify any kill or being killed because no-one is where they appear to be. The poor 360 (or my Internet) ain't built for this.
Spleef has now been added to the mini games section with two modes, one with shovels and the other with snowballs, which are essentially throwable shovels.
And as usual, online play lags like mad to the point where you can be floating in unloaded chunks for a good thirty seconds after the game begins and then unable to throw snowballs for another thirty, giving the host a huge advantage.
Also, more battle maps or something else I won't buy.
I did it. I finally won a battle in the mini games by doing nothing...sorta. I dealt no damage and didn't loot anything.
It started in the crucible with central spawning off. With the invincibility I swam through the lava to the outer bedrock wall and waited...and waited. One down...two down...show down. The other player came looking for me from the upper area, eventually spotted me, and tripped. They fell down into the lava below, swam out, and dropped their head in defeat as they burned to death with me just twerking across the way, as I had been for the entire battle.
This took so many attempts across the maps to pull off.

Honestly at this point all hype I could have for the new updates is completely gone. I'm apathetic. 4J says they're working on it. But it's annoying how they're charging a ludicrous amount of money for some maps. At least the money is going to new jobs. A job at 4J would look nice on a CV. "Oh you worked on one the most successful games of all time?"
Yep, console edition gets cash-grabs while PC gets elytra, end cities, polar bears, new hostile mobs... We don't even have banners yet.

I'm with SoulEmpire, don't mind being behind, and could really care less about most DLC, as its mostly skins. I would like to see more DLC in the form of 'GOOD' texture packs, not the cartoony/kiddy garbage that we have been getting.
What I would really like is for them to fix the bugs that are more technical, ie in respects to villages. I've posted to the bug tracker bugs that are plaquing villages some 6 months ago, and they haven't even been acknowledged by 4J. Redstone visual bugs also need to be fixed, sometimes its very hard to tell whats going on with redstone as you can't trust what you are seeing, half of the time pulses don't even get rendered. They should also Implement spawn chunks, and make portals work like they do on PC, and for the love of god increase the limits of passive mobs and entities, as well as the spawning system, as its way to slow and kludged.
I'd like to see a 'f3' like screen implemented as well, so we don't need to calculate chunk boundries, and can see exactly where the biome shifts are taking place, mob and entity counts, ect.
Spawn chunks should still be implemented, and they function as chunks that you are in, and thus continue to process entities and what not, I mainly want them so that I can use the end to shift goods to the overworld via the portal, without requiring a second player near the spawn area. There really isn't any reason why spawn chunks can't exists on xbox one either, if the 360 can hold their entire world in memory, and we only have what 16 x 16 chunks in memory at a given time there really isn't any reason why they can't exists.
Anyhow 4J didn't fix biome shifting, that was fixed in the anvil format that mojang implemented way back. 4J really hasn't implemented any changes to the game other then breaking the mechanics of villages/villagers, and adding glowstone to blaze drops.
If you want to ignore that console edition remains in top ten retailing games every month, you could think they might have a balance between addressing the game and putting out DLC garbage.

But now at least ten months in we are getting a feature update. Which for some reason 4J didn't tease and aren't acknowledging.
You do realize that Minecon was just this past weekend in Anaheim, CA? 4J was at the event and they showed off the next console update. Public acknowledgement right there.
Skip ahead to 7:28:09 for the 4J panel. They talk about the new stuff and they also cover a new Mashup pack coming to consoles.
You seem to have forgotten that 4J also added Battle minigames to MC console a few months back, and last month they added the new Tumble mode to the Battle Mini Games.
Anyone else think it's weird that the feature update that's announced for next week (on Mojang's site and other news sites, eg front page of this site) wasn't and still hasn't been mentioned on twitter by 4J? Or Mojang for that matter.

I am stoked about the chinese texpack, hopefully it will do the culture good, but I cant count as high as many people want a John Smith/Conquest type texpack. This is why they should coordinate with Microsoft or whomever to allow mo support. Other games such as Skyrim and Fallout do/will I believe
Looks like we're getting a bunch of 1.9 and 1.10 items, but possibly not the combat system. I saw the new Nether blocks and End stone bricks, but no purpur or Shulkers, implying that the End cities and elytras will not be included. They're the new banners, I bet.
Still no mention of barriers, spawners, or command blocks. Guess map makers will have to keep looking to the horizon for spawners and barriers....
Right? Couldn't care less about Battle Mode. Would rather have Realms or actual content, ie Banners, 1.9 / 1.10 features.

You are aware that your not required to buy the dlc right? All they are is cosmetic skins for the blocks, items, character, etc.
