"We're now working on an update for all Minecraft console editions to move up to the equivalent of Java 1.6.4 version. It may take some time!"
So if I'm correct, this will include 1.4, which is the Pretty Scary Update. 1.5 which is the Redstone update. 1.6 which is the update that added Horses. Hell yeah 4J!
so does that mean we might finally get the redstone block? i hope so.

Well looks like the next update will be equivalent to 1.6.4 which actually includes the pretty scary update, redstone update and horse update, this will be a HUGE update, but they have tweeted don't expect it for awhile.
We already have alot of 1.4.2, but what we are missing is. (pretty scary update)
Wither and wither skeletons.
beacons
Witches and bats (i could do with or without bats)
Command blocks (if we get them)
Fireworks were added in 1.4.6
We have a few things brought forward from 1.5 (the redstone update), what we are missing is.
hoppers, droppers, the ability to place most machines pointing up and down.
trapped chests
comparators, redstone repeater locks,
a complete redstone overhaul (which greatly improved stability of redstone)
daylight sensors
weighted pressure plates
redstone blocks
It also included a scoreboard system (which we may or may not get)
There was a major upgrade to the lighting system.
1.6 Update aka the horse update. We already have carpets from this update, What we don't have is.
Horses, mules, and donkeys.
Coal blocks
Leads
Name tags
Hardended clay (can be dyed with the 16 dyes similar to wool)
horse armour
Golden apples will require 9 times more gold to make but will give absorption (which i think is already in game)
Better ! Since it's the 1.6.4 Java equivalent , that means we'll get the Wither , witches , ect , lot's of redstone stuff and Horses .
That's THREE updates in ONE ! Three major updates !
The Pretty Scary update (1.4.2)
Beacons
Wither
Bats and Witches
Improved Mob AI and Mob armor/weapons
Thorns Enchantment
Fireworks (possibly)
Activator Rail
Redstone Block
Daylight Sensor
Dropper and Hopper
Hopper Minecart
TNT Minecart
Redstone Comparator
Trapped Chest
Weighted Pressure Plate
Varied Snow heights
New Status Effects
Horses, Donkeys, Mules
Horse Armor
Hay Bale
Lead

Also many, many changes to how Redstone functions (which will break nearly everything currently built)
I've highlighted these two for a reason , first :
A : If regional difficulty is based on the chunks that are loaded , wouldn't this become a issue ?
B : What changes to redstone functions ? Don't we just get new redstone stuff ?
I never knew how the regional difficulty worked. I'd assume their is likely a way they can do it without it being based solely on the chunks.
As for the Redstone update, they changed the timing on certain blocks which when that happened on the PC version completely broke almost all complicated things people had built. I don't know if they'll do those changes since the console still seem to not be super friendly with complicated Redstone but who knows.
Well this is interesting news. I'll be able to compact some redstone simple contraptions after that. That is quite a lot of content. Unsure what to make of the bat, since those don't do anything beyond add to the caving atmosphere. Hopefully they won't have those spawn too much, as they can get annoying or in the way too much.
Not really interested in the wither much, more or less the beacons. But still a decent addition when considered.
Finally will have slimes spawning in swampland, now that I like. Although hopefully not too much, as that in it self could be problematic. Now we just need a way to be able to use hardened clay; as in a way to make it more less rare, if not just acquirable in some way or fashion. Otherwise it would be pointless to build anything with it in survival, at least on the 360 version, but even then... Well one could hope anyway.:)

From a creative standpoint. Colored Clay & Beacons are going to be amazing. Less stupid glowstone for lamps, and no more wool for colorful houses.
That is my point about the clay. limited resource at the moment. You can only use so much of it before running out. So using creative mode would be the only way for now, unless they make a way to make it renewable; like glowstone. Whether it is a drop or alternate way. Otherwise it would not be something that can feasibly used as a creative aspect due to the limited amount.
So I am glad stained clay is coming in, as I am a builder, but at the same time worry if I will be actually able to build with it effectively in survival. (effectively meaning having enough materials for a build or two.)
Most of the content is going to be amazing to me, whether I am able to acquire it or not.:)

My only problem is that, like 4j studios said, it will take some time and judging from what they are adding and how much they are adding we might not see it for a looooooong while. I suppose it will be worth the wait though. I THINK I speak for all of us when I say that I wouldn't want to wait THAT long for something THIS good.
Seems a little odd that they are doing one giant update with all this stuff rather than 2 or 3 smaller updates. I'm wondering if this might be the final update for the 360, this update will add pretty much everything 4J has said will be included in some future update.

Well not actually, but could be a possibility. However I just think since they got quite a bit from those updates already, that really the only bits left are some of the major ones like horse mechanic and new redstone mechanic (this includes hoppers, etc.). I am sure there is a bit more than that here and there; that is the primary couple things that come to mind that would need a bit of time.
Over all it does make sense in order to somewhat get closer to the version of the pc. 1.6.4 was the last bit before they changed the generation again. So it is feasible they may add some of the new stuff beyond that in the future. There is still quite a bit left, as well many interesting suggestions that may or may not be considered. I believe they mainly wanted to update to as far as they can in a bulk update, so there would be many things included in the game. After all many people have been wanting many of the features that those specific updates consist of.
Whether or not they stop after that one is really up to the developers I would think. Besides to me is would be fine if they did after adding all that, however some things probably would still need work on I would think. How likely they are to stop is only a matter of opinion at this point. I have played enough to say I got my money's worth and then some; all this is mainly a bonus in the way I see it.
