The problem with that method is that you'd only get the disc. Normally these disc hunts have a disc and a random tool or piece of armor, either enchanted or unenchanted.
I don't think it's impossible, I think it's a random bug. When the new Tutorial world came out, I watched a video posted on youtube by EchoSoldier and he found all 12 discs.
Where is this mystery chest you found located? I'd like to check it out, even if there's nothing there.

ahh so then its not only me having the sinc problem. i guess its not gmail but the forums. i will take a snapshot of the only chest that doesnt have a disc in it. and when you think of it, it kinda seems like a decent place to put a disc. i will try to get that screenshot today. i still have your profile in my favorites since i had offered to make a video and pm it to you, but i cant make one if i cant find all discs'
ok if you want to keep looking until you find said chest but if you can't find it and you're done looking and you don't want to make a new world but you'd like to have all 12 discs then that would be another option. Of course a disc hunt, I'm assuming, is to find all of their locations, in that case you wouldn't want to do that I take it. Sorry I'm still very new to what ppl do in this game "out there", I only play with my family.
i think its near impossible to tell what other people do in minecraft. there's so many way to play the game.

Dude, you should keep track of the locations of those discs and maybe post a thread in the Discussion section detailing their locations. I found 11 out of the twelve discs. I've gone back to each section repeatedly looking for it but can't find it.
i have been flying around this map for 3 hours ive explored every single map over 10 times, ive checked out all of the nether (which has nothing in it) ive looked in every crease in this world and i still cant find the final disc im at the point where im just going to TNT the entire place till i find it. ive even made a ender portal and still no disc. maby there isnt even a 12th disc
The trick in past tutorial worlds is to ensure that you get the entire map to generate in a Survival difficulty with mobs enabled. Some of the chests are programmed not to generate if you switch into either Peaceful or Creative mode before that part of the world is explored.

I've started the world several times, and charted the whole map without quiting, but that last chest, the one that is supposed to be inside the mountain shack will not generate. In fact, I have a suspicion that that program is the precise reason why the last chest is not generating.
On a more positive note however, I found the 12th chest on the Halo MUP world save. It's beneath the temple in Sandtrap.

Ryker is correct, the final disc is under sandtrap i was trying to put up a video but the connection keeps failing

Skin pack 6 is lovely! Great job 4J. I love it because for one we get a female skin that is free, normal looking and decent! (Teen girl skin woohoo!) [HINT HINT 4J!] Also because of the Horse man/head skin. Sure it's a hint that horses won't be too far away.
That's a bit of a shame, I remember reading the post about the next gen versions and they stated "You can transfer your worlds over, we can make them bigger no problem but making them smaller creates tons of problems." Hopefully that addition isn't too far after launch.

Aren't the texture packs supposed to be cheaper than 4.99? I thought they were 1.99. 4.99 is the price of a mash-up pack.
