Can someone clearly explain exactly what this means:
- Pistons take twice as long to update.
I can already tell I'm not going to like this at all.
It's not gonna be fun. Pistons now will (As far as I know) twice as long for the shaft to move forward. Which unfortunately will break some of our contraptions.
Ohh I am just getting the NAT-error, and I have a phone, which can share the internet, but the phone can't be in high speed data-mode, so the connection is not so good, that it would get to the internet. And I am not so sure how opening the ports on your router will effect it, and the opening of the ports is the only way (I think) to get the NAT-error away. However, I've been able to update my console (Xbox 360) software, but not the minecraft disk......I would have updated mc looooong ago if I hadn't that NAT-error.
Try contacting your internet service provider and talking to a technician. Whenever I have a problem they always have the answer.
Ok, so not that big of a deal. Sugarcane is easy enough and with a good cow farm the leather is as well.
It sounded like people were in a panic as if gold or diamond were required.
Thanks
If I am one of them referenced to panic, then no. I usually just calming state things. It might take a bit to get use to, but nothing really too major to panic about. In fact like you figured out from all the others, it is a minor change. Ah well at least we have a lot to look forward to in the next update. lol

That really sucks. The phrase "If it's not broke, don't fix it." certainly comes to mind.

WIP 128x 64x, SEUS support, Mod support in the pipeline TEKKIT, FTB, the more support the more mods!

I think by slowing down the piston update speed, the lag should decrease when using pistons. This should not affect most redstone contraptions, only affecting those trying to open and close pistons rapidly. For example, you can quickly open a sticky piston so that it pushes a block up but does not pull the block back down until the next time the piston opens.

its not really at all but i remember in the pc version i had to slaughter so many cows because they refused to give me leather. if cows end up dropping leather like the pc then its going to be a problem.

If that is the case then most t-flops and BUD switches are going to be completely broken. I'll reserve judgment until I see it in action, but I'm dubious about this change. If it turns out to be as bad as I think it might be, I'll be tempted to say "screw the big contraption builders and give us our old pistons back."
It's not a problem for the PC because of the advanced redstone update they got - but given 4j's schedule recently it'll be a year (if ever) before we get comparators, etc. to solve the problem.

I am a little concerned as well. I don't have a lot of contraptions, but I fear this will ruin some of the important ones I use. Will see.
I've got stacks and stacks of leather from my farm that are begging to be used. So it didn't seem like that much of an issue to me. Is there a use for books apart from the bookshelves (decor and enchanting table uses)?
@Tamorr, I apologize. I did not mean "panic" in a negative or offensive way, just that there was a sense of urgency I did not understand.

I don't think we'll be seeing a long window for an update that's nearly the length of TU14. Most of this update time (that I know) is because they have been trying to get all versions of the game working. Which of course takes a while. I think they said once on Twitter that updates across all platforms should all be out roughly at the same time. (Cause they are all very similar in coding or something like that). So again, I doubt TU 15-16 will be anywhere close to this long.

Nah, it's ok. I get misunderstood a lot at times. I usually just take the game at a quite slow pace. So in a way urgency would be redundant in my way of playing. lol
Making a cow far is not all that difficult, and besides gives me more excuse to build one earlier.
That is if I want to enchant higher levels... Which only half interests me. More of a builder, and the main reason why I take such a sluggish pace. I haven't really any issues with the change log. Although some redstone things might be broken after it comes out. Since certain ones rely on the quick motion of the piston, as mentioned above by someone else. But really there is only one way to know like that same person mentions & myself, is to see the update for myself. It is the only way to be sure.

I don't use much redstone and etc in any mode anyways on the game so i won't be terribly affected i think. I love this update though, it has new items that i need/want. I love how we get more food options, i love farming so adding more crops is awesome for me. The Quartz is great too, more building material that i will actually use. It looks great on PC for modern type builds or whatever which is a plus. Also gives a good reason to go to the Nether. Quartz is obtained in the Nether right? To those who do use redstone/pistons for most things though, i hope it doesn't turn out terribly for you guys.

I dont think the time for the piston to extend will change... what that tells me is the time from when the piston receives a signal to the time it reacts is doubled. You probably wont even notice a difference.
This seems like an attempt to fix some of the wonkiness with pistons.

Yes, yes it is. Its an ore, 4 ore can make 1 block.
Do you know about the potatoes/carrots, are they a rare drop? Or are they just only obtained from villages, temples e.t.c.?
And by the way, how can I open port 3074 in my modem/router? I think I might know the way, but any tips are appreciated. I know that UnPnP isn't the thing causing NAT-error.
Idk what you mean by rare drop for potatoes or carrots. Do you mean if you kill a mob, they will drop a carrot or potatoe? If so, im not sure. Someone else could answer. But i'm more than sure that they can be obtained by villages, that is only in villages in newly created worlds after the update. Or else you have to get the new items by creative.
I believe carrots and potatoes are rare drops from zombies in the PC version but it might have been added later then PC1.3/1.4 and no idea if it's been added to the console version with TU14.

Potatoes and carrots are rare drops from zombies, and are found as crops in Villager farms. Potatoes and carrots require farmland in order to grow, but do not have an accompanying seed item. A potato or carrot is instead planted directly in farmland, and upon maturing will yield 1 - 4 identical potato or carrot items which can again be used or replanted.

Then it's settled. It's a huge win for me! This update is great, more food, potions and blocks! Woo!
