Overall it's a good pack, far from perfect though. To me at least it seems like a realistic John Smith. Most stuff looks good but there are some things (the ores, bedrock, gravel, bookshelves, chiseled stone and glowstone to name a few) that I'm not overly fond of. Not that the ideas behind the blocks are bad just maybe they didn't spend as much time on the textures for them as they should have. Also not a fan of the paintings simply being up-res'd versions of the default. I still think it's worth a purchase but it's far from an ideal pack for me.
Had a looksy and I got to say it is a pretty decent pack, although not for me. Not really fond of the sandstone textures in this one. Really love the gravel texture though, oddly enough.
Most the rest I actually liked. I can only hope the medieval like one will be what I am looking for. Awaiting to see that one, or a doku similar one. Either way I still haven't found the one I would love to have. Guess that means more waiting to check out more of the lovely work they are doing with these.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I love the TP, I got it last night and it have to say it is just what I wanted and hoped. I love all the mobs except for the creeper. Creepers look like they came from the Plastic TP. o.o Otherwise it's a great TP and I will always use it til I we get a new one I like.

Oddly enough, the sandstone and endstone work the best for me. The combinaiton of the two has a VERY "marble-esque" feel and would be great for ancient grecian or roman builds. (I used the combination in a elven build that worked very well against a birch-wood frame).
I love the cobble texture - it is, IHMO, the best in the game. I think they went a little too busy on the straight stone and gravel textures. The boundary lines on the stone blocks are maybe 5-6 pixels too heavy, had they cut those back, it would have looked great.
The onyl downside for me in the pack is the wood plank textures. Don't get me wrong, they are okay; however, they remind me too much of different colored clay blocks. I think they needed to add some knotholes or something to make it look more like wood.

The main reason I didn't really like the sandstone was mainly due to the fact it doesn't really blend well with sand. I liked the yellowish textured. It is something I build a certain town around in a way. You could tell there is a town there but the sandstone parts would blend rather well with the sand. But with this one it looks about as seeable as my other village on the plains that I remodeled. the sandstone texture just stands out too much.
I actually liked the gravel texture, especially over the default one they have now. Looks more workable than the default. I am one to like the original gravel texture from before, in the 1.7.3 up to when they changed it.
Smooth stone I realized and remembered i didn't really like due to the fact it is not smooth stone, it is cobblestone now...O_o if that makes any sense. Most the other textures I didn't really mind as much. I don't really use jungle logs in my builds, but I'm sure I could find a way to use it in this specific one when I do decide to get it.
Overall though most the textures are lovely and fit well, at least in my opinion. I can always find mix n match building ideas within a single texture pack when the blocks actually resemble what they are. This pack does do just that to some degree, and is a good step forward showing off a variety of what they can do.
So far they have come out with the 3 sets which all work in their own way. Just not enough for me to buy right off, as it is not what I am looking for.:D

to me the endstone texture looks like quartz from the pc, really like it, had some endstone on my steampunk tutor style house and now it looks even better. an awesome pack in general but really great for medieval style builds... though i'm sure people will still complain since its not specifically skyrim.

Oh, well I can certain see that - I agree the sand and sandstone textures have very little to do with each other now.

Absolutely! give me the original gravel and lava textures any day of the week.

That is my thought as well - the smooth stone (I called it straight stone before) would work well as a cobble texture. The new cobble texture is fantastic. The combination of the two into one pack is where they tripped just a bit.
This is the first pack I bought. I'll be buying the Skyrim mashup whenever it comes out as well as the rumored "medieval" texture pack (if it appears).

same, as that is the pack I am awaiting to truly see what they do with it. Hoping things work the well in the mixture and blends. A mirage doesn't work well to make if the textures stand out too much like the current one. I just hope they capture the moment or the essence of what ever they are planning for that upcoming pack.

Meh... but looks nice, just not something I see myself using at the moment. Will have to check it out when available. Can't really judge much from pics in this case. At least it is a treat though.
Wondering when the castle age pack is coming... hmm...or doku like/similar... oh well I am sure this one will be just as good as the rest.

downloaded the new texture pack this morning and flew around some existing worlds.
As a stand alone texture on existing builds, the pack is interesting but not incredible. It does not make a lot of transition to the most commonly used build materials, so the overall look and feel of your builds won't change much.
Like the Mass Effect texture, they have played with the textures of the colored wools to give some really unique build opportunities (for example, brown wool now has an oak wood tree texture with the scary jack-o'lantern face superimposed - go through your forest and cut out a single block from each tree, replace with brown wool and viola' scary forest). Unlike the ME mash up they have not played with the textures of other blocks to the point that you can't tell what they are (i.e. no killer computer cacti)
Now then here's the kicker - 4J has tweeted this pack will only be available until 11/3. IF you make a themed world from this pack you'd better make certain everyone you EVER plan to invite downloads the texture pack now. After 11/3 they won't be able to get it and if they visit your world they will not see the cool design.
