I'm updating the front page...but in the meantime...please stay on topic I'm usually very forgiving in this thread for the discussion on updates and such...but please..."try" to stay on topic and not argue
Makes me sad ;.;
we were pretty much on topic though, i mean the Tps are part of the update section. it sa forum, as long as we arent personally attacking each other it should be perfectly fine to discuss things, theres a fine line between an argument and a discussion. though some people were trying very hard to be condisending, failing, but trying their best, seriously, get that man a cookie and a gold star for effort.lol.
i mean if we arent allowed to put our opinions out there, or defend them for that matter, whats the point in having forums at all, the interactions with others is the whole point of a forum. if all it was about was getting info then we could just read a wiki or something.
anyway. im totally fine with the discussion changing gears, ive got nothing against MCLC or anyone else for that matter, but im a teacher at heart and cant help but try to educate others.

im really not surprised, there is a heavy amount of negative response to anything they do involving texture packs.
could be they are waiting for TU13 and will have the new ones ready and probably put out some hints as to what to expect next, i hope its a skyrim pack. not because i want it, i do of course, but that fat is greatly shadowed by how much i want people to stop whining every time something not skyrim comes out.

I have no problem with people voicing opinions. For the part about being off topic, I was referring to the part where the discussion turned from being about the good/bad dlc that 4j is putting out to claims of indirect insulting / saying person a and person b are arguing / what meaning / tone of words / a post meant which were not related to the discussion.
Re-reading my post, I didn't mean for it to sound like discussion of updates were not allowed. *I'll edit it to clarify the post* I was meaning that sometimes the conversion for an update tends to lead off into a different discussion itself. That is what I meant with I am very forgiving. As long as people are "playing nice" and not spamming or discussing things that shouldn't be discussed on the the forum, then by no means am I going to go forum tyrant on everyone.
I didn't intend to imply that no one could add their opinion to the conversation.

I agree, the discussion was derailed off topic. My initial post was merely a post agreeing with someone (Tamorr) about not really being interested in the plastic pack. MCLC responded directly to my post with a comment, but that was still on topic. We exchanged a couple of posts on topic, but then accused me of basically "losing it" when I hadn't lost it at all. I just don't think it's wise for anyone to basically accuse any company of intentionally defrauding children online without providing definitive proof. Therefore, that response to MCLC was not well worded.
Then, IMO, things went south as a bunch of people cut into the conversation attacking me... and it seems that I'm still the topic of gossip around here since now people want to give me cookies and such for trying (lol). While I'd love a cookie, what I really want is for myself not to become the topic of conversation here.
Back on topic - my basic points have always been... 1) I am not interested in buying the plastic pack. It doesn't suit my personal tastes. 2) I believe 4J are trying their very best to produce good texture packs that will be of interest to a lot of people 3) I believe they do want to import some of the more popular PC packs to the Xbox. 4) I believe they may be experiencing some delays or difficulties in obtaining legal permission to use some of the most popular packs from the PC. 5) I believe the packs they produce themselves will improve over time, not because they want to put the bad pack out first, but because they will learn as they go on how to produce better and better ones.
In computer games it has not been unusual to release DLC from weakest to strongest.
Examples!
Oblivion started with Horse Armour, famously weak DLC
Skyrim started with Dawnguard (which was panned) and ended with Dragonborn (lauded)
Fallout 3 started with Operation Anchorage (panned)
Mass Effect games tended to lead with their weakest DLC and often ended with their strongest
Borderlands 2 DLC seems to only get better as it goes.
Releasing DLC from weakest to strongest makes total business sense. Each new trot lets you say "Better Than Horse Armour!"
Some people buy ANYTHING and it is often easiest (in game development) to squirt out something quickly that doesn't need so much attention to detail - eg a texture pack with ZERO detail, just solid colours!
You're making the accusation, so the onus is on you to prove then that this was their absolute intent and not just a factor of learning more about how to produce better DLC each time they released a pack.

lol, i was on your side up_up. i was giving the cookie to udergine, because of his unintelligible attempt at being condescending towards me
Can't wait for new textures. I probably will be building with it right off. Looks similar enough. I do use the ME text. But only to see what it looks like. But I try to build in vanilla so it looks good when I get somebody who doesn't use TP's

Lol... and I naively thought you wanted to give me a cookie because you were on my side. You said things I had hoped to say far better than I ever could. (and I actually love cookies... especially chocolate chip... even though I'm not supposed to have them anymore). Another failure on my part to catch on to an online undertow, I guess.
For the record, I am probably one of the most easy going people you'd ever like to meet. I guess I just don't know how to type "factual" online without coming across like a grumpy old man. I think I'll go back to just conversing with people face to face... much, much easier.
I'd be more excited for a Skyrim pack than I was for the Mass Effect one, or any other high tech game. They shouldn't have to change nearly as much in a Skyrim pack. That world is made of wood, stone and such, so all they should need to do is draw textures on the existing blocks to look like their equivalents in Skyrim.

lol, cookies for every body. its tough when people talk factually, in a non-condescending way, they tend to have an almost soothing cadence, when people talk condescendingly they tend to patronize and have an almost sarcastic tone to their voice. people will usually to default to one or the other, depending on psychological preference, when reading ; especially online. But its also evident with books even when an author states intent directly, people will assume a completely different tone based on a somewhat biased predisposition.
tone is very difficult to discern from written language, i said as much earlier in the conversation
back on topic though. im excited to see them get to the point they are puttng out more teture packs and mashu ups, the mashups have more legal issues though, and so do some of the pc packs.
I wasn't really sure about the Plastic TP at first, but after seeing some screen shots on Friday, this pack looks pretty cool. Definitely going to get this when it comes out. It's supposed to be out this week right?

super crazy high graphics that may crash the xbox. or they could do normal graphics but i would enjoy something like the graphics on overes rustic redemption or chroma hills.

we will probably see some more Texture pack that diverge from the MC look, probably not as extreme as the ME mashup did, but howmany ways can they make a medieval pack. a spooky pack (everything looks like it belongs in a haunted house), modern (more modern looking buildin g materials concrete, tiles, etc.)

There are people who actually think this?

found a site with some other pics of the plastic pack. shows off the nether and the jungle. still nothing about the end though.
we are still waiting to hear about what that medieval tease was regarding. but i think we all assume the skyrim mashup everyone's been wanting.
