I don't know if you guys want this included with the twitter updates, but playxbla.com posted a short article about texture packs and that they are talking with creators of favorite texture packs. No promises though if coming to us or not:
for me the web page is unavailible so i dont get to see what it is
For me it isn't much, as it looks like a simplified texture set. That is assuming that is what the pic is all about and what the person mentioned above, being legit or true.

That is fine, gives some hope and glimmer to the whole thing. It would be nice, but I will not get my own hopes up. After all I am just looking for one to suit myself, that will be flexible to be used in survival, and fit with how I build.:D
Still some good info on the matter.:D

I agree. It's not going to make things look different enough for me to bother with it (assuming that this anticipated texture pack is what the picture is showing us). I really liked the radical change they gave us with the Mass Effect Mash-Up pack, so I think I'll just wait for the next mash-up pack to come out. It's nice though that they seem to be willing to do both (radically different and much the same).

i think they are giving a bad one is because if you give the best one first then no one will wanna buy the rest. so this way people can make mistakes and pay them more money for stuff they regret buying

i think they are testing the water more than anything. we will probably see a huge group coming out later, some more detailed, plus this one is really good for people who do tutorials, pc users use a version a lot since it makes it easy to see blocks and keeptrackof dimensions

No retail business that I'm aware of intentionally puts a bad foot out first in order to make customers buy by mistake... That sort of practice almost always loses the business future business. Putting a great foot forward on the first try is usually what brings in repeat business. Also, the trial versions are available for free, so really no one should wind up buying a texture pack of any kind "by mistake." Different people do like different things, however, so I agree with killenjoke in thinking that 4J are sampling the waters to determine what sorts of packs might be most popular with the Xbox crowd (which may be different from what is popular with the PC crowd). I also think 4J will try to cater to all the different sorts of tastes out there eventually.

yeah but remember there are kids who play minecraft. they will buy it just because the can say they bought everything(i know this because i use to have some squeaker friends who did this). its hard to explain but basically you put ok items first then build up like in minecraft build boring house at first then turn it into the tajmahall (i know i spelt that wrong)

Just because some people and kids make rash purchases does not mean that the business goes out of their way to sell "bad" stuff first to these people. I've been in business long enough to know that it is far more beneficial to the business to put the best foot you can forward and get positive word of mouth endorsements from customers. That doesn't mean that every business will be successful on their first try, but it does mean that they are generally trying to make a good first impression with customers. Like anyone, they do learn and improve their skills over time. Was your first Minecraft house your best ever?... or did you learn some tricks from building it that make the second house you built a little better thant he first? etc.
I really like the look of the Plastic Pack. Like usual, I'll download the trial test it out and see how much it is before buying. Looks like something I'll like more than the Mass Effect pack.
In my opinion, companies generally try to get return business. They don't intentionally try to put out a bad pack in order to get people frustrated so they buy more packs and I just don't think it was very "nice" of people to, without proof of any kind, accuse 4J of doing that. I just don't, it seems, know of a "nice" way to make that point. ME was 4J's first mash-up. Because they probably learned a few things from it, it probably will not be their best mash-up. They'll probably improve on it with the next one. The Plastic TP is their first straight TP. It probably won't be their best TP ever because they'll learn something more by doing it and they'll improve when they do the next one.

i agree. it would be bad business for them to intentionally put out a poor product, or for them to assume people will purchase something blindly. the whole idea that the plastic pack is "bad" is an opinion and in no way fact, it isn't what the majority of people are looking for eg. medieval/skyrim . but it will still probably be polished and well done. the idea they would make something bad just so people would blindly buy it would be ludicrous, they would lose more money than they would make off of that venture since people would be skeptical towards anything they published after that. that being said they probably wont start off with the more requested TPs, there could be several reasons for this, one they want to work on them more and make sure they are perfect, and to make sure that the TPs are working well with all the updates. it would be really bad for them if they were to start of with a medieval /skyrim pack and something went wrong, say the texture of certain blocks didnt show when light hit it, then people would be 10 times furious if they had to rework that texture pack, as apposed to something like the plastic pack.
Too young to remember Horse Armour maybe, definitely squirted.
Note I didn't say "bad" I said "weak". I'm not inclined to chase down the reviews and link them for you, but the info is all there.
The assertion that businesses never put out bad product though just shows a lack of awareness though, particularly of gaming. We have the term "shovelware" for a reason! Even without Wii and iOS leading the shovelware charge, there is plenty of outright weak and broken games to be found on X360. There's plenty of low quality options in all consumer driven business.
Note: many others did.
and no i remember horse armor quite well, it was the exception and not the rule, but still lots of work went into that horse armor i highly doubt it was slung out in a day or 2.
i didn't say they never put out bad product but not usually intentionally, as many are implying they are doing, as apposed to accidentally or like in many cases due to resources that are available. many times its smaller companies, especially on the wii and in the xbox arcade, that tend to put out the "shovel ware" you are referring to due to lack of money, or other resources, mojang excluded of course. not to say companies don't put out products assuming people will buy them due to some loyalty or commercial interest, look at any game based on a pixar movie. or any movie for that matter. but again, thats more of an exception than a rule.... and proof companies do start strong look at most of the halo games they came out very strong with their dlc. same with COD, Battlefeild3, batman arkahm city, and lots of other games.
very few of the dlcs you listed were weak at all, just because they get stronger doesn't mean they started weak, in fact this again supports exactly what me and up_up are saying, its in a companies best interest to start off strong and keep that rolling. look at what happens to most of the games that are "shovel ware" and in some cases the companies that make them.
and the first DLC within the mashup/texture pack category was the mass effect pack and that was a very strong start.
I'm updating the front page...but in the meantime...please stay on topic I'm usually very forgiving in this thread for the discussion on updates and such...but please..."try" to stay on topic and not argue
Makes me sad ;.;

What I meant with the above post was: Discussion about updates are fine. Discussions about arguing / saying people are argumentative does not add to the conversation.
Discussing updates that brings up another "subject matter" is fine as long as it's on topic.
Example: Discussing Minecraft DLC and comparing it to 4J's other DLC from other games as a quality comparison is fine.
Discussing Minecraft DLC and then talking about breakfeast...not fine.
lol sorry what i ment was im just gonna ignore the rest of his post's sorry for the misunderstanding
first yes its flawed but i used the word bad because the texturepack "plastic" is bad lol. its one of the worst packs ive seen (my opinion[im more of a detailed but not too detailed person]) if it was something else i would have probably used a different word. and the person was just a quick example i know he may not be bad at the game it was just an example and again sorry for the misunderstanding
opinions are one thing but implying that that opinion is fact and that a company is making something bad on purpose is another ballgame all together.

I just have a feeling that the xbox versions will be less detailed even if they do manage to get some of the popular ones.
here is a link to the texturepack if anyone wants a early sneak peek to the new texture pack on xbox just make sure you have pc minecraft because im not gonna be held responsible if you mod the xbox to have this
