Im Just Wondering If 360 User Still Get Updates Because Im Definitely Not Getting The Xbox One
They Think Im Buying A New Console For $300-$200 And Re-Buying 63 Games Getting 31100 GS Back
HELL NAW
Im Sticking With Xbox360 Till No One Plays It Then Its Time For PC Gaming
So Will They Still Update The 360 Version Or Are They Staying With Xbox360
Well, they have promised horses, not in the next update but in a future update. This tells me that they are planning at least one feature adding update after this next one.
But Still You Rebuy All Your Games And Thats NEVER Happening
No you do not rebuy all your games, they have stated that the Xbox One is NOT backward compatable, so in order to play your Xbox 360 games, you must KEEP your Xbox 360! That means you do not have to rebuy anything.
Ugh! I was stuck with the original Xbox until I got the 360 for Christmas in 2012. I downloaded MC in January 2013. Now, there's a new system!
Kinda the exact same thing here. I recently got an Xbox 360, too. Not going to ditch it until it dies of it's own accord though...
OP: Pretty sure that, even though a new Xbox is coming out, the devs will still be supporting their games for years after, especially seeing as Microsoft will still be selling 360s. No one will buy a system that isn't being supported anymore. By that same logic, I'd assume that 4J will continue to update Minecraft long into the future.
But Still You Rebuy All Your Games And Thats NEVER Happening
Please stop spreading false information. You do not have to re-buy anything for the Xbox One. It is not backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games so there is nothing you would have to buy again. Your Xbox Live profile carries over onto the new Xbox One. Meaning any gamerscore you have now will go with you to the Xbox One. Microsoft has already confirmed this.
Why would the Xbox One coming out affect Minecraft on the Xbox 360 in any way, shape, or form? 4J has already said they will be working on the game for a long time to come.

I agree with this. If I remember correctly, MS said they planned on supporting the xbox360 for at least 5 more years.
They might keep servers up for another 5 years, but I wouldn't expect any new games beyond 2014. I'd also be surprised to see this version of Minecraft supported beyond then, too. It should be well featured by then, so I dont think people could rightfully complain too much. I kinda expect there to be an Xbox One version out in the next 2-3 years(if not earlier), so that will probably take priority at some point.
Anyways, if you've just gotten a 360, it means that you've probably got a ton of new games opened up to you now, so I wouldn't be too worried about next-gen being around the corner. There should be plenty to play for quite a while.
Turns out I didn't remember correctly. They didn't actually say what I posted, but they said they planned on selling another 25 million xbox360s. Here's the article:
They might because if Microsoft goes with the anti-user things like the internet connection thing and the blocking some used games thing, they won't be making it for xbox one because no one is going to buy it. PS4 is looking more appealing to everyone anyways.
PS4 is looking more appealing to everyone anyways.
And the only reason for that is because Sony is being extremely tight lipped on 90% of the details about the things everyone is hating the Xbox One for. My bet is that Sony is being smart. they're letting Microsoft take all of the punishment from people over these things, then at E3, which starts monday, they'll announce that they're doing something similar.
Why would EA drop online passes for all future games, PS4 and Xbox One alike, if only the Xbox One is doing the used game fee for retailers? Why hasn't Sony come right out and deny they're doing anything similar to what Microsoft is doing? They haven't. And on top of all of that, do you honestly think Microsoft would do something so drastic if they didn't know that Sony would be doing the same or something similar?
i have no intention of EVER buying either an xbox 1 or PS4. if i ever need a new console, i will just hope i can a used xbox 360 in good condition if this one ever dies.
I think I read somewhere that 4J will support Minecraft XBLA for as long as Microsoft supports the Xbox 360
And E3 as promised games on the 360 until 2017 so it's fair to say that Microsoft will support the 360 until at least then as well.
So we should be getting updates on Xbox 360 by then. But by then most of us hsould of been able to get the Xbox One eh?
I know no matter what I plan on having a Xbox One by 2015 either way
so, you do have to rebuy all the games for the xbox one if you get ride of your xbox 360.
same deal with me. i just got an xbox 360.
There is nothing to rebuy on the Xbox One since no 360 games will be on the Xbox One. New games will be made for the Xbox One, which will have watered down version made for the Xbox 360 like Titanfall, Destiny, etc.
The Xbox 360 has been around since 2005 so it's not like it's new. There has been plenty of time to get one. It's not Microsoft's fault it's been close to a decade and they've made enough advances to make a new console.
I've actually been wondering this myself. After all the hooting/bickering/reasoning about how the 360 can't run ANVIL worlds, it only seems natural for 4J to then focus solely on the Xbox One version. Didn't we read somewhere, too, about how the OS coding will be different on the One than it is on the 360? To make the console itself run better, etc. If that's the case, then no company in their right mind would continue to support two differently coded versions. Especially in an old console vs new console situation. It would likely be fiscal suicide. Although i would admit, Minecraft would be a good candidate for extending the life of the 360. Unfortunately, we're only left with what Microsoft has said and what 4J Studios has indicated. The proof, as always, will be in the pudding. Personally, i don't trust Microsoft as far as i could throw them. Seriously. Nintendo, Sony, AND Microsoft have shown us time and time again that only the newest consoles/handhelds are important so to h#&% with the older ones. And publishers quickly fall in-line so they can continue to profit.
Will Minecraft 360 still recieve updates after One has launched? I think it will. For a time. Then it will end and the only way to continue will be on the One. Unless we don't mind only playing an "older" version that is no longer supported. Frankly, we're holding onto our 360 until it gives up the ghost. After that, we'll see what gets marketed as the One's successor. This house is getting a WiiU for giggles, and will likely see a PS4, however, short of some serious changes, the Xbox One will never live here.
