I'm looking into a variety of buildings in minecraft, and I'm interested to see what people build. What kinds of materials do you build your houses out of? And what kinds of styles do you use? Posts sreenshots, or just let me know what you think looks best!

For my most recent major build, I used contemporary style with modern design using a zigzag carpet pattern and spruce wood walls that was detailed with oak wood and standalone stair borders. This build was for a creative project for a hotel design. I also utilize the build for accommodating players who play on the world. Each person is assigned a room where they can set their spawn point, leave their items in chests, and sleep. Everything else is pretty much for fun. So I guess it's kind of like a base. If you like, check out some of my ideas/designs and you can definitely use them in your builds.

If your question refers to a war-type base, I am currently constructing one on Minecraft Voltz platform. I film a series for the build and that's also on my channel.

That doesn't sound lame at all, that's epic! Much better then the one I made

My favorite build that I made was a castle made of nether Brick and Sandstone.

I had the lower half Nether brick and the top half made of Sandstone with hedges and vines on the tops of the castle.

My base on my current world is a giant realistic tree with a storage room underneath, an enchanting room in the middle, and an alchemy lab at the top.

My favorite base i have built is a series of underground tunnels and domes across my entire 360 world. I have over 40 different rooms each one with a different purpose.

My base was built in hard survival out of obsidian. About 7,000 blocks.
